after having my car out of commision for over a year, i get it back and have some issues after i get it home. kinda tired of waiting for someone else to do the work, i decided to do the swap myself. wanting to replace the heads anyway, me and a buddy started tearing down the engine yesterday and found a few suprises along the way. Here's a list we compiled so far:
Bolts missing in for supercharger mounting bracket. Causing severe vibration of the supercharger.
The supercharger oil feed line was loose and leaking oil every where. creating belt slippage.
Bolts missing for upper intake.
Wrong size bolts used to take place of lost bolts (threads now stripped)
2 coil packs cracked, broken
all coil pack bolts missing
EGR tube loose causing exhaust leak
Header bolts not tight, a few of them 3/4 of the way out.
Unplugged hole in discharge pipe. loosing boost
some plastic plugs from the wiring harness were broke
Race bypass valve missing gasket. loosing boost
Hard plastic pieces inside passenger side valve cover (valve covers are aluminum)
Valve cover bolts way over tight.
Who knows what else we'll find today.
Stuff like this just pisses me off! The person who put the engine back together had more than enough time to do this right. The engine builder had the engine for 4 months and the person who put all the accesories had it for 3 months. i didn't rush them to fix it so i woudn't have any problems but look at the list so far. Just imagine what type of problems i could have faced down the road if me and my buddy didn't start on the head swap?
