Its funny. People on the sidewalks usually dont notice my car. But lately people are always checking it out and it looks like ****! I know because my friend was driving a block behind me in his Camaro, and some girl was like "theres an awesome Mustang up there. You need to go race it!"

It was pretty funny.

There's a pretty well-attended import hangout spot not far from my house. Theres a local pizza place I like right in the same parking lot. On a nice Friday or Saturday night, I'll call in a pie and hop in the stang to go pick it up.

Coming rolling into the group with a healthy lope and the blower whining, and either jaws drop or eyes go straight to the ground.

I know a few of their faster guys from my local dyno shop, and they've spread the word not to snooze on a stock-looking green fox body. haha

And as the old saying goes, "fox bodies are like a box of chocolates...."

Stock exhaust - Rare chances...

Aftermarket or "loud" exhaust - Many more chances...

The race opportunities stopped instantly once I put the stock mufflers on. Same traffic type and on a college campus.

Every now and then I get a 99-04 trying to race me and thinking they have me. They do not know that I have the PI Headswap It typically surprises them.

I had a guy say "7 up car, right?" at the breakfast place last year, this is when it had the ponys on it, so it kind of threw its identity off a little and I was like yeah, how'd you know? he's like I just know!! sometimes you find the people who know all bout em, and then 90% of the time its idiots who have v8 s10's or something, at least thats how it is around here...

i get the REVS here to! i think its a respect thing and a race thing as well! they know alot of our cars arnt stock! and want to see what they have ! then sometimes they wish they hadnt done that!! LOL but here in Canada we have a new racing law that was passed into effect last year! a $10,000.00 fine impoundment and crushing of your car if convicted of street racing and or jail time! it used to be fun to eat some rice on a sat or sunday night down in the Falls ! but not anymore! i like my car to much to take the chance of losing it to beat a ricer! if i feel the need to race i can go to the local track on friday night for test and tune it costs $20 and you can race all night long! they do the rev thing just to say hey man nice car! but you get the few who do wanna race! I just had a guy ask me if my '91 was for sale while I was pumping gas today. Didn't go into much of a conversation, but he said he had an '86 5.0, but he sold it and somehow ended up with a Hyundai Elantra with a wing, hood scoop, fart pipe, and cheap wheels . It's cool for a 17 year old car to gain so much repect. But then there's always the guy with some Civic or Integra who thinks he's the baddest mofo around, and has to prove it to you...until you beat him like he was standing still.

Totally off subject tho I was just reminded by the "91 for sale?" comment.

I had just bought this 93 off my buddy and sold my 89 (RoofStrype car) and I'm at O'Reilly auto parts. Me and MyBad70 are getting in the car and some dude comes driving by in this HUGE chevy diesal truck and he rolls the window down and says, "Hey man how much for your notch?"

(If you don't know my car I'll tell you- I rarely post in 5.0 talk anymore. This car is my friend's old car. I bought my first fox body because of it. I was a freshman in highschool and my friend was a senior. We had ROTC together and became friends on Rifle Team. He would send me out to check on this god awful B E A UTIFUL 93 coupe. This was 1994 and I remember gawking over it like it was yesterday. Well I bought it finally 2 years ago.)

So this dude in the parking lot with a kid next to him goes "Well I'm looking for a Notch in particular, my son loves them. I'm a chevy man myself and I figured I find him a nice one with a good interior, you know, rare these days and I saw yours"

To which I replied "Yea it's 64k original, fairly uncommon"

Then you won't believe this chit, dude looks at his son and says to me "Yea I told my boy here we'd just drop a chevy crate motor in her- ya know parts are cheap and you can't beat them"

Me and MyBad70 look at each other and MyBad70 actually has a bigger mouth than me and mutters "The F you would"

I told him nicely I couldn't sell it and if I ever had to the original owner and I have a pact.

The **** that comes outta some people's mouth kills me. A stock 93 black notch with 64k(now 65 as of yesterday) and this ahole thinks I'd sell it to him so he could put a SHIVVY motor in it and gice it to his 15 YEAR OLD PIMPLY FACED BRAT?

I've had this car for 2 years next month. When I bought it she had 62,400 miles. Wel I drove it 375 miles home which brings us to 62,750 at my old house. So in 2 years I've put about 2,300 miles on it.

Some of you would say, "What good is it if you don't drive it?"

I have a friend who's a year older than me with a 92 GT. We are as different as night and day about cars. He has a (Ghey to me) Ford license plate cover that has the blue oval in 3 places, "Ford" written on the back glass, and all this stupid after market stuff in the interior. A short throw shifter (I've had them before) and a que ball knob that's red, racing seats which I sold to him and other garbage on his car.

It makes me sick. He's changed the suspension repeatedly, he has racing front suspension and a arms and the whole steering bracket, he has this and that.

Yet where ever we go people ask about the coupe. Why? Cause any asshat can throw their money at ANY car and get a cool look. But it takes a man to leave a car as what it was the first time he saw it. I have the original TB, MAF, pullies, and 5 star poneys up in the attic. This car has the original CD player (that will soon be replaced cause it keeps trying to load an invisible cd), the original shifter, interior, springs, fuel pump, intake, motor all together is original. It has the same dings in the trunk that my buddy pulled when slamming gears. It has the original fan. The original sun visors that are falling apart. The original crappy floor mats. The original lights. The original console, and seats, and exhaust pipes after the mufflers, the original 3.08:1 gears, tranny, and original everything except teh MAF, TB, and hood which I let go and wish I had back.

It is what it was in 1993. I can take this car to original in less than a day including getting tires for the wheels. It is what it was and it's frozen in history for me, and no body else.

Around here you have mustangs every 500 feet. Most everybody gives the rev up as a way of saying hello. Then we have the camaro and vette boys, a few imports, alot of old mopars and some crazy ass diesel trucks! The diesels are the most willing for the street race around here. The foxbodies here dont get a ton of respect because there are so many of them and 75% of them are ragged out. Everybody knows and appreciates the exhaust note though.

diesel trucks around here are a force to be reckoned with though. Some of them are wicked fast. When I got my vert it was stock. Went to the track stuggling to get low15 sec pass. A big azz 4x4 dodge diesle dually pulls up to the tree. Revs up smoke pouring out the huge stack in the bed, pumps out a 14.0 in the 1/4 mi. The truck prolly weighs 8000#

that was several years ago. Now they have all kinds of mods for them. Weight = traction and HP/TQ will = as azz whoppin if your not ready for it.

Ya I get a lot of 4.6s trying to get me to run with them. Doesn't matter from a stop or even on the freeway. Granted my car is pretty loud, infamous chirping BBK throttle body and the gauges from the A-pillar which don't help. I think a lot of it is people just want to see what your car can do. There are so many possibilities that can be done on the fox and it just gets people curious. They definately have a rep and most of it is well deserved but it is one of the last true muscle cars IMO.

+1. My 91 notch is a 4cyl to 8 cyl swap, but it is mostly stock too. I have BBK CAI, H pipe, MAC catback, 3.73 and LCA's Big deal. I thought of doing H/C/I or a blower, but why??? The car isn't gonna take my Cobra, or my Dad's Shelby..I am just gonna leave it alone.

I think the best I had was an STI come ripping through traffic from behind to try and figure out what was running race gas. As he looked over and my car looked stone stock, rolling on ponies, fairly quite on a roll, he then just took it easy.

I think the most respected comment I ever recieved was from a guy in a race prepped Viper. Full cage, sounded sweet and he walks up to me and says wow, you don't see coupes this clean anymore, nice car.

I had a Dodge 4x4 try to run my 04GT the other day. He just must have had exhaust only becuase he didn't keep up.

I usually get general puke cruising past me as I am never in any real hurry to get anywhere.

I used to get race attempts, now I have only had a couple since finishing the car but have had a LOT of people ask if it was for sale. I mean I have had a good half dozen do it while driving down the road.

I do however LOVE scaring older people with it. We have some good over passes here, and when I'm under them, hold the car just above 2500, and roll into the throttle decent through 3200 and you get a nice loud raspy tone. With the echo from the bridge it sounds awesome, and usually scares people who aren't "in the know".

Yeah my brother in law has an 05 Duramax that runs 12.40s and a 99 Dodge that runs 12.80s. Its very sickening to see two 7000+ pound trucks that run like that. Technoloy is amazing these days. There are atleast 10 to 15 trucks like that just in our county. And every one of them love to play out on the streets!!
