Restomod build

Agreed, but we've come full circle. To get to the 400fwhp mark with less than 5 litres you are going to have to be at or very near the edge of what most folks consider "streetable".

I misread the original post, when he said "put down" 400hp I assumed he meant RWhp not FWhp. 400 ponies at the pavement from a 289 would really stretch the definition of streetable for everyone except the Nova owner already mentioned.

I don't think that 350-400 fwhp horsepower is a problem either. Everyone's idea of streetable is different. But the 350hp mark would be a whole lot easier than the 400. Edelbrock's performer rpm "street combo" will make around 365hp with a 302. This is with ~9- 9.5 to 1 compression and an ancient edelbrock cam grind. With about another point or so of compression and a "modern" cam grind, these numbers should be higher and the drivabilty alot better.

Well thanks for all the info so far. I think I am getting close on a recipe and would like to run it through a dyno program anyone know where to download a good free one (with out demo limitations). Now we have the tranny I am looking for a good buy on a T-5 with bell. Car is currently auto what is the best way to go about adding a clutch pedal. Thanks
