Restomod Seat Swap

The 2001 seats are different than the ones listed on that link. The 2001 seats do not have a flat base. You can not just directly swap the tracks. I made some spacer/adapters to go between the 66 track and the 2001 seat. My buddy used stacked washers to accomplish the same thing. He has not had any adverse affects, yet.

Does anyone know if seats from a 2000 Jeep Cherokee will go in easily? I guess I could do some measuring myself, but it would save me a little time if someone happened to know already.

Aren't the seats in a Cherokee more like a captain's chair? I'd think they would be a little tall (from the floor to the seat surface), unless you are mighty short. Keep in mind, that you want your eye level to be in the very center of the windshield. I put a piece of tape in the middle of mine when setting my seats, so's not to get them too high or too low (both of which hinder visibility). Measure, measure, measure, then test fit.

Don't know if anyone else has attempted this, (and I'm putting my flame suit on for mentioning it) but I put early '80's Toyota Supra seats in mine. They are infinitely adjustable, have inflatable 3-chamber lumbar support, side bolsters and the whole nine. The bolt pattern on the tracks is *almost* exactly the same as stock and requires only minor modification.
I have 93 Mustang buckets in mine. As others have said the seat tracks from the original seats almost bolt right on and will do so with a little bit of hole slotting but be warned that when you do this the seats will not go back nearly as far as the original buckets did and only short people will be comfortable with this arrangement. I made special adapter brackets that allowed me to use the 66 seat tracks with the 93 seats and put them in the original location allowing proper front to back adjustment. I think I ended up moving the tracks almost 1 3/4 forward on the 93 seats to accomplish this but I do not remember.....measuring and testing will guide you. I still haven't determined if I need to drop the seat hats an inch, I will be testing soon with an original bucket out of my friend's 65 and if needed I will cut the hats.

Oh, I love my Cherokee buckets. They're really comfortable for me, but then, I'm pretty short and seats that are comfortable for me aren't always comfortable for taller people.

No. I just think the seats are really comfy. And since I'm not totally pleased with the covers I made for the stock Mustang seats, and planned on redoing them, I figured I might as well look into getting some Chreokee seats from a junkyard to go in Sadie. If I can find some that are already in pretty good shape, I could just replace the center fabric with what I want and it would probably be easier than redoing the whole cover again. Plus, for safety reasons, a headrest would be nice and I don't like the ones that are made specifically for the older mustang seats.
