Returning to stock tune

I was wondering if returning to my stock tune would harm anything internally in the motor. I would like to see if I get better gas mileage by just applying my 93 octane brenspeed tune at the track only. But I hear that If I were to do that the car will suck in more air and put out less fuel which could mess with the pistons? do you guys think this is true? Will I get better mileage with the stock tune?

Check my mod list for reference...Thanks!

You would have to put the stock air box back on. I think its a waist of time and money to do all that. Just dont rag on the car everday, shift at 3k dont redline through every gear:D

Just realize that once you return your car back to the stock program ? you must also re-install your factory airbox otherwise YES you can and will more than likely damage your engine, pistons ect. I noticed your running the Mac off road prochamber and axle backs and wanted to ask if you happen to notice any drone at all ? I'm definitely planning on getting this set up with either the GTA's, Magnaflows or Mac flow path's and would be grateful for your input.. :nice:

like said, you would have to reinstall stock parts. If you want better gas mileage you could have an 87 octane economy tune for the car and keep the intake systm in there. I doubt you will get better mileage than with the tune. I would guess you would probably get worse mileage with the stock tune. But, you could also use 87 octane gas on the stock tue and save $0.15 per gallon.

IMO, keep the tune and system in, and usa n 87 octane tune. You can still run 93 octane with the 87 octane tune without any problems, but not the other way around.

Ok I returned it to stock for about an hour and could not stand the loss of power... back to 93. I don't think I could put 87 Octane in my car, I just sleep better at night knowing I have better fuel in the tank.

I don't really notice any droning at all, it has an amazing deep rumble, a little tinny at high RPM's though. but I am thinking of selling my MAC axlebacks and replacing them with SLP Loudmouths. My goal is to sound as much like my friends terminator as I can.

Octane rating does not = better or worse fuel. octane rating refers to the rate at which the fuel burns. A higher octane rating burns slower, which is why you can advance the timing and gain better power. actually 100 octane on a 93 otane tune will cause you to lose some power. An engine makes maximum power at its closest point to detonation, which a higher octane prevents detonation. which in turn decreases power output, but gives a greater power potential versus lower octane because you can runs higher boost, more timing, more nitrous etc.

Don't know if all that made sense.

And if you lose sleep ove your car's fuel's octane rating you need to straighten some things out. lol.

oh ok I actually did not know that, I always heard that 93 octane was a lot cleaner and more pure then 87. That's what I meant by losing sleep lol, I don't want dirty fuel in the car...if that's true at all.

I just got back from a trip to western PA(375 miles one way) a few hours ago. I got 23.8 MPG while driving the posted speed limit or about 5 MPH over the whole way!!!!! Not bad considering my mods.
