Rework the stock control arms?

Before I discovered there are infinite choices for rear control arms, I was planning to work over the stock control arms on my 94 Stock G/T 5.0 T-5 3.73 combo. Intended to install urethane bushings and box the control arms. That can be done for under $100, upper and lower. I've got the tools to do it so it won't be difficult. Waste of time? My car wheel gets poor traction and wheel hops pretty bad when I nail it in 1st. Never dumped the clutch yet as it seems pointless at this stage. I do intend to mod the engine. 275-300HP range. It will see the strip, but it will mostly be a street car.

And do aftermarket control arms hurt your ride quality if I go that route?
