Ridiculous Tickets...

Well I got another ticket. This time I was leaving a local Wendy's and heading across the street to a pizza place where some friends were. Pass by a cop in the drive through and go through a gas station to the pizza place. Cop flies in with lights on and blocks me in my parking space. Tells me that I had my radio too loud, I drove dangerously through a crowded gas station (it was 1 in the morning), and that I "tried" to do a burnout. I proceeded to say that I was sorry for the radio, I never went over 15 in the gas station, and that if I wanted to do a burnout it would have happened. Going to court for it in a month, I'll let ya know how it turns out.

Ummm, well without a doubt do you get singled out if your drive a fast car. That is fact. Could be for many reasons: cars stands out a lot more in the masses of boxes, car is probably a lot louder then everyone elses, and lastly, they expect a punk kid to driving it.

Ive got 2 for yah...but, they are ridiculous in that my fines were low...

sunday morning, 7am, its beautiful outside, im feelin strong, sitting on the entrance ramp to I-55 at Harlem Ave...My buddy is next to me on his Busa (i had a 2002 R1) so, we grin, light changes, we hit it....165mph or better down the long ramp, we back it off, now im cruising 55, and crank up a nice 2nd gear wheelie....Im all happy with myself, look over at my buddy on his busa, to see an Illinois State Trooper sitting on his rear tire...well, we pull over, I get the riot act, he says he would have thrown us in jail if he coulda clocked us, and we both get written....

My wifes a lawyer, she knows everyone at the courthouse, so I go before the judge, and the prosecutor, my wife , and the judge all nod to each other, and the judge says, Mr Prosecutor, is a $25 dollar fine ok...I didnt say anything, but for 25 bucks, id pull wheelies in front of the troopers all the time

one more good offense...I was nearly home, it was 3am, no one was out...I pulled a 95mph wheelie down a 25 mph street, the cop rolls out, I pull over, and he says, How did you get the front end up like that..turns out he has an R1, we become friends, and since then Ive had no troubles in my town...

now im bikeless, the cobra is replacing that..and somehow, i have managed to stay out of most trouble with it. Soon to be selling for an 03, maybe i can get into more trouble with that LOL

PS..you guy need to move to chicago...when the traffic is actually moving, the cops dont really give a **** about anything, unless you are really reckless or cause an accident..they for the most part, have bigger fish to fry....I drive for a living, my Cobra is my office, im always putting about 200 miles a day on the car tearin it up...

Last month I'm coming down a mile long hill, go around the bend at the bottom and up over the knoll and there sits Mr State Trooper in the weeds. I instinctively spike the brakes as I look down - a little over 65mph - not bad, I'm thinking. I debate putting my (illegally) tinted windows down, but realize that they will still be going down as I pass him and that may look slightly obvious, so I decide to take my chance. Wrong decision. I really think he may have let me go on the speeding if it weren't for the windows. So I get a 69 in a 55 citation and a fix-it-ticket for the tint.

Skip ahead to 2 weeks ago as I sit in the magistrates office waiting to "fight" my speeding ticket. I hear the 2 ladies that work there joking with a few other police officers about one of their Jetta's that is apparently all tinted out and they joke about how *** (the troopers name) is the one who is the tint hound - of course the one and the same who nailed me. We then go in for my hearing and half way through the cops speel, the judge is looking at my ticket and says " B I T N - what is that?" meaning my license plate, so I explain that it means "bitten". He then asks me if that has some kind of personal meaning to me or something. I tell him that it is on a Cobra. His response was a big fat "OH - Now I understand", as I realize that this is not going to go too well.

So he asks me if I disagree with anything the cop said and I told him no, so then he wonders what am I trying to accomplish then, and I said that I used to be a little careless when I was younger and I always had tickets and points on my license but I have been trying very hard and I have managed to have a clean record for 8 years now, so I don't mind paying the fine, but I really don't want the points on my license. To make this already long story a litter shorter, the judge said to me "So through your own testimony, you are a reformed speed demon who goes out and buys a Cobra and slaps a plate on it that says BITN. You knew what that car was capable of so what were you thinking?" I told him it was a nice car. "I bet it's a pretty fast one too".

Wish I had thought to say "NOT FAST ENOUGH"

My ticket only got reduced from 3 to 2 points - Probably just because I showed up. Oh well.

The kicker of it is - My radar detector sat in the console of my truck!

This is an unfortunate reality. Of course there are drivers that have no business being behind the wheel of a car. Especially an SVT.

I have been hassled by cops ever since I bought my Cobra.

I once came out of a fast food place 100' from the traffic light and just as I hit the road the light turned yellow so I punched it and made it through. No squealing tires, not over the speed limit, just up to speed FAST. The problem was the cop across the street at another fast food place. He came after me and said I had been speeding down the road. I said I had just came from across the street and he said "Then how come the car next to you was flashing me the thumbs up when I pulled you over?" He said he didn't have any tickets with him or he'd write me up so I tried to show him the receipt for the food I had just gotten and he refused to believe it so I said "we'll go back there and you can ask the manager and he still wouldn't believe me so I said "I'll wait here while you go get some more tickets if you want, or better yet, I'll follow you back to the station (just down the road a few blocks) and you can write it up there while I talk to your supervisor." He kept mumbling about me speeding so I finally said "If I"ve done something wrong write me up NOW or let me go." So he finally let me go.

Maybe it was the proximity of the Krispy Kreme and the smell of fresh doughnuts in the air. Who knows? "What do the flashing lights on top of the cop cars mean? Get out of my way! The doughnuts are hot!"

150+ sounds fun. I got pulled over a long time ago by a State Trooper for 97 in a 55. I was very nice to him and even joked that if he'd clocked me a few seconds sooner he'd have gotten me for 120+. He laughed and said that since I didn't try to run (I was only a few miles from the State line) he'd just write me up for 70+ and not take me to jail. He was a very cool cop. Courtesy and a good attitude goes a LONG way with a cop.

Another time I was pulled over in an area known everywhere for their speed traps. I had just gotten home from spending two years out of the country. My friend and I had been riding around and we had had a few beers and were on our way home. I was doing 41 in a 35 and amazingly he knew from the computer in his car I'd been out of the country all that time. (This was pre 9/11) He let me go as long as my friend did the driving to get us home. Courtesy can save you a lot of hassles and it's easy to do.

Every time I read stories like these I am thankful my Cobra is white. It draws ZERO attention from Johnny Law. Nobody gives my car a 2nd look. I love it that way.

At what speed do you get arrested??
I mean who here doesnt always just push to at least 110 everytime they get on the highway lol
