Rims, Tires and wheel spacers.

A little background. I have had terrible luck this week. I picked up a large piece of debris on the way home from work wednesday. The tire had a whole in it i could fit my middle finger thru. So then I put on my BFG drag radials Till i get new rears. Then I get home from work friday morning and by noon one of my BFG's was flat. Both sets of tires had little life left but it still sucks.

So now the dillema(sp). My regular street tires are 17x9 rims with 245/45-17 tires (all 4 wheels have the same backspacing. I really want to put on some 275/40-17 555R's. My BFG's are 275/60-15.

Will the 275/40-17's fit well on a 17x9 rim. if so where can I get wheel spacers for the back wheels at. I think its going to need 3/4 to 1" of spacer to fit in the wheel wells.

Thanks for any replies.

Maximum Motorsports has good wheel spacers. Otherwise, look for H&R or Eibach spacers (good brands).

Whatever you do make sure your get hubcentric wheel spacers. The one's on 50Resto.com are not hubcentric, they are lugcentric. This makes a HUGH difference.

Our stock wheel hubs align the wheel with a raised rim that falls just inside of the wheel. A ton of the cheapo wheel spacers defeat this setup by omitting the hubcentric ring. That leaves you depending on your lugs to maintain proper wheel mounting alignment (not good).

Hope that helps.

sorry dude

I pm'd you awhile back about your wheels nad looked at the place you got your wheels (thnaks for that link BTW) and you have 5.95" backspacing. Same a s the 17x9 '95 Cobra R wheels.
