Hey I was cruising online for a 351 short or long block assembly and found a site called Roadmaster Ford Engines. I was wondering if anyone had gotten an engine from these guys before and how satisfied they were, or if anyone has heard of them, or any insight on the company. Any thoughts?

I've never heard of them personally, but that doesn't mean they don't do quality work. A 351W Lightning shortblock goes for $1230, figuring that you need to add the core charge in because you don't have a suitable core to exchange. Seems like a pretty fair price to me, considering it's essentially a brand new engine.

yes, however the lightning engines run with a forced air system (supercharged if i remember right) so they are built to run at a lower compression. I am going to run n/a with a carburetor, and would want a higher compression.

The first gen versions were not supercharged. It was not untill they recieved modular engines that they got the supercharger and that was on the 5.4 SOHC
