what size would my rocker studs be...bone stock 88 5.0
bought some scorpion 1.6 RR's for $35 shipped and don't even know if they will fit lol. I am going to buy some poly locks for them.
if worst comes to worst they will look cool hanging on the christmas tree
You bought parts without any idea of how they fit?
Your stock '88 5.0 doesn't even have rocker studs.
Your '88 5.0's cylinder heads have a bolt-down, pedestal mount style rocker arm.
If you want to use them, you will need to either buy a weak rocker stud conversion kit for pedestal mount heads (Crane and Comp sell kits), or you would need to remove your heads, have the pedestal bosses machined down, and drilled and tapped for screw in studs.
I don't know what size you have. Roller rockers are typically available in for both 3/8" and 7/16" studs.
what he said..if you dont use those 1.6 RR's and they are 3/8" stud, can i rent them for a couple days? i will pay shipping, etc.. i'm trying to track down a noise and my RR's are next on the list, Thanks
yea I could...I might just see if I can somehow make them work. didn't know if they would fit or not but for the price I wasn't worried really. I figured if anything I could trade or sell on ebay or something
i have had trouble in the past with those cheapy stud conversions and certain brands of alum. roller rockers. the bodies are just too big and the clearance aint there. get em machined the right way its only like $ 120 bucks to get it done.
GT40 heads already have threads. I use those heads and i run the 3/8" stud conversion(ARP?) with 3/8" scorpion RR's with no problems, you might need new pushrods though
