Installed a new rollbar in the vert yesterday at Autopower in San Diego.

Much better than the old version, people can sit in the back seat this time, and it's about 3-4 inches further back from the driver's head.

About $800 when it's all said and done.

Next week I have an appointment for an upholstery shop to put a padded cover on it.

At least it's more erect and not floppy anymore.

$1100 is not bad at all when you feel much safer everytime you get in the car. Looks good

That roll bar looks great! I have thought about getting one for my '07 GT, I would like to give track days a try.

Can you show how it is installed, is it a DIY project, or a shop project?

And is it easily removeable?

Is it a custom fabrication, or are they available for shipping?

It does give you some more confidence, esp. in a convertible. But you have to remind yourself that a convertible is still not as safe as a hard top when it rolls, but every little bit helps.

As for being a DIY, it's definitely not for me. It involves removing the rear seats (easy), removing and precisely cutting the plastic around the convertible hardware (not so easy), drilling into the car frame to mount the rollbar uppers (no way I'm doing that) and the downtubes (nope).

So since I live close to the factory (they do ship) I opted to pay them to do it. 7 hours or so later it was perfectly done. It is not removable, and really, really, really solid. You know how you can touch or smack something and it just doesn't move, or it feels like it's part of the car? That's this thing.

Thank you for the reply.

That sounds like a well-done installation, and probably well beyond what I would feel comfortable tackling on my own ("A man has got to know his limitations.")

It does look good on your car though, and I can understand the additional feeling of security.

Do you ever plan on going to the drag strip?

No. That rollbar isn't legal for drag racing, I think you have to have a 6-point for that.
This is just for personal protection, and maybe the occasional track day.
