Looking for some basic info on swapping a roller motor(1996) into my '68. Thought someone who has gone carbed might have some info. The question concerns the timing cover, timing chain and fuel pump eccentric. I realize I need to go to a timing cover that allows for a mechanical fuel pump. I'm looking for a true roller timing chain. Some say they work with a two piece eccentric and others say they work with a one piece eccentric, additionally others just list date for production. So, which do I use? Thanks for the input.

Since your motor is a 96. I assume you have a motor out of a Explorer or something other than a mustang? I would suggest just using an electric pump rather than scrounging around for the right cover to use a mechanical pump. I have 2 carbed mustangs and I just used Holly electric pumps on both. I think an 85 mustang cover would work or maybe even anything earlier that used a mechanical pump but Ive never done it so I cant say for sure. If you need a front cover, I have the one off my 85 motor with the eccentric and I think the pump is even still attached to it. I would sell it pretty cheap.
