Okay I am confused as hell at what procedure I need to do to set these up. It is a 351w with a flat tappet cam and it has mechanical lifters, which I am assuming are the non hydraulics. I have a loud tapping noise with the engine running so pulled the valve covers off and noticed all the rockers are loose.. so now I am trying to figure out how to adjust them so they are not so loud. The cam calls for .2 for the lash adjustment, and they are a stud mounted roller rocker. Can someone please explain to me the correct way I should be adjusting these
Started with the number 1 cylinder, rotated it clockwise till the exhaust valve started going down, then adjust the intake valve till there was no lash, then turn it a half turn and lock the center down. Then rotate it till the intake valve opened completely, then when it starts to close adjust the exhaust valve till zero lash, turn the nut a half turn then lock the center. Went in order for the firing order until I did them all. Then after I did them all I went back to the number 1 cylinder and it is still tight like I put it. Does this sound right? I haven't started it yet and don't want to until I know for sure it is correct so I don't damage anything
