My 408 stroker kit should be in any day and I've been looking at roller rockers. Would the Crane Energizer roller rocker (11746-16) be a good choice for a street engine? They are $199.95 at Summit. Are there any other good ones that sell for less? This engine won't be abused a whole lot.

you get what you pay for when it comes to roller rockers. Seriously. Energizers are one the cheapest rockers, so... I like comp pro magnum or crane gold, I've never used scorpions but they have a good rep.

COMP PRO MAGNUMS.

I do NOT recommend any aluminum rockers,,,,,,the hardened steel roller eats into the aluminum and sends shavings throughout many engines.

Isn't it the Pro Magnums that require a slightly longer stud? And the pushrod will need checking, too.

I had no issues with stud length with my pro magnums, nor was I aware anybody else had.

Dont buy the Energizers- they are cheap for a reason, spend the extra $100 or to get good rockers.

Have used Harland Sharp for years with no issues at the track. Pay a few extra bucks!

302 coupe: I don't recall the details - it might have also had to do with valve stem length (plus sizes), but I do remember talk about this at the Corral.

I've had mine for 10 plus years with a solid cam on the street and I've beat the bu-jesus out of this motor. Still tight and solid like the day I bought them.

The poly lock on the Comp 7/16ths pro-magnums does stick up pretty tall, but you don't need a tall stud. There are two options that are only slightly more expensive if you want to go aluminum: Performance Racing Warehouse at around $210 to $215 and Jegs own brand for just slightly less. The PRW brand has a self aligning tip version, so no guide plate is supposed to be needed (not sure I would rely on it though at hi RPMs).

You guys sure love to see a cheap skate spend his money. Comp Pro Magnums or the Harland Sharp may be the way to go. Which Harland Sharps were you recommending? Are the cheapest ones OK?

I've been running the Energizers for 5 years now and had zero problems. My 331 stroker has aluminum 1.7 x 7/16" Comp Cams "Engine Builders" line rockers and they've held up fine for well over a year. I'd run Energizers before trying some of those Chinese made ebay special rockers.

It depends on spring pressure. Energizers are fine for a hydraulic cam or even a small mechanical.

My engine will have a hydraulic cam with not much over .500" lift. I definately won't buy those Chinese Ebay rockers even though I'd almost bet that most of the others are made in China too. It seems like almost everything is these days.

Why? If everyone needed 7/16, they would not even make 3/8.

Over building is good for reliabilty, but also gets expensive.

A failure in the valve train can get very, very expensive.
