Rolling my fender lips

I'm trying to roll my fenders a little to give me a little more tire clearance. I'm wondering how I should do it? I have heard of people doing it with a baseball bat, but it seems like there should be a better way than that. I don't want to buy the professional tool from eastwood. If I just bought one of those panel beater sandbags and a hammer, would that work pretty well or would I probably beat my fender all out of shape? I'm taking the fenders off anyway because I'm going to be doing a lot of work on the car and possibly painting it.

So what's the best way to get good results without buying a specialty tool?

I did it with the baseball bat and it works wonders.
But now I'd like to reinstall my fender moldings which are in great shape, an since the tabs have been bent awat I am a little bummed that I can't keep them.

But there might be a way...

You can rent the tool if you don't want to buy it. I'm not sure what the website is, but you just pay to rent the tool and shipping both ways. I'm sure someone on here knows the place, or you can try searching the forums for a previous post about it.

Can someone post flicks of their rolled fenders. I never seen them and wonder why so many people regret or try to stay away from it.

I AM going to find a way to do this. I rolled the lips and if I have to redrill the holes and put small machined screws in... I WILL! I am hoping I can do this in a few weeks and give you an update.
