The cobra motor came from the factory with different ratio rocker arms. Stock 5.0 motors had 1.6:1 rockers and the Cobra motor had 1.7:1 rockers. Ford was forced to be cheap after the heads, and rocker arms along with all the other mods that they did to the cars. Heck, in the 94-95 realm, the cars had a standard Mustang rear valance. It did not even say Cobra on it. They would not have designed a different cam for such a short production run and not put it up for sale in the aftermarket. (less than 15000 units if you count the 93). If it was different, it was not that great of a change. (225 hp to 245hp) I sure can get 20 hp out of a set of better heads(gt-40), rocker arms, 24lb injectors, and a new fuel map.
Besides, what is the difference. It sounds like Jason is happy, and with good reason. Jason, I am sure that a set of 1.7's are not going to be that hard to find...

Glad you are happy with your new engine 65fastback, and I sure wish I had a Ronstang in my area.
I wind up working on my car by myself...always by myself.

If you didn't live 300 miles away I would be more inclined to help. I'm at the point I want to see your car on the road. If it makes you feel any better, I've been told by two people that I have good advice and am a good helper, but my stuff never seems to be running.
Fostang said:Who said anything about forgeting the different rocker ration? That has nothing to do with the initial lift or duration on the cam?
We were talking about the actual cam not the final ratio.

66 BLAKE 96 said:Wow! You got alot done. About how much would you say you spent on the whole thing? You said it was difficult to find the right distributor gear, but you didn't say what the final solution was.
Hey Ronstang, you wanna take a road trip up to Fort Worth and help a brotha out?

Distributor gear - $37
Intake and carb - $400
Ronstang's time - Priceless
