I got a strange problem with my car and am looking for some advice. It has happened four times now, I'll be cruising along doing about 45-60 then the engine will start to surge and it will then stall out. Each time a visual inspection has turned up a busted distributor rotor. By busted I mean the metal contact point has seperated from the plastic rotor body. The first time this happened I found the plastic piece (the one the distributor cap snaps on to) on the distrubutor was very loose. But each time since that occurance that part was secure. Any advice would be appreciated as I am running out of ideas and am getting tired of having to carry spare distributor rotors with me.:D

Sounds to me like you have too much play in the dizzy itself. Pull it out and see how much side-to-side play you have. Might be time for a replacement dizzy.
