Rotors Need Turning, but......

Greetings,
I own a '00 GT 'Vert. (Auto)
It has about 46k miles on it.
It has the orginal brakes on it.
The brakes are giving me no problems at all, execpt...

When I brake, I feel the steering wheel vibrate a bit. This is, of course "normal" for a car with 46k miles on it and no brake work done...yet. The rotors probably need turning, but... I also sometimes get the same vibrating sensation when I'm on the freeway without touching the brakes. Could the rotors be in that bad of a shape as to need to make the steering wheel vibrate without pressing on the brakes?

Just wondering.

BTW, the tires are properly inflated, the wheels have been aligned, and the tires have been rotated.

The tires were also balanced when rotated, right?

Otherwise, maybe the rotors are warped to the point that they're slightly hitting the pads even when the pads are retracted.

If you get on the stock rotors a lot over that 46k miles you could have easily warped them badly enough to be touching the pads...I've warped the $hit out of mine in just the last 30k miles and I need to go to a bigger slotted rotor here in the next month or so

the best bet is just to replace the rotors all together, if they're warped that bad u aint gonna cut them. aftermarkets are cheap, bout 20 bucks a rotor, just make sure u get factory pads from ford or else ur calipers arent going to fit the pads. the aftermarket pads have little metal dots holding the backing plates onto the pad itself, ur gonna have to shave those down in order to use the aftmkt. pads, believe me i went through it on my car, and its not a fun job
