I knwo this has probably been covered a few times but it seems like the solution is always to get a new tob or something else, well about 6 months ago the clutch fork boke inside the transmission and tore up some stuff , pretty much everything execept the flywheel in the so everything is new (clutch, pressure plate, clutch fork, tob, pb) all that stuff. But when I started to drive it , it was already squeaking not 5 mibutes after starting, It was installed by a ford mechanic so I am assuming it is right , I would hate to take it all apart again and check it myself , I was a little busy with school and work that week to do it and I needed the car back. what really worries is that it has been this way since everything was new and the clutch pedal feels kinda rough when you first push it, you can feel a thump to almost like a rough spot on something as it spinds and the pedal jumps like a brake pedal when you have a warped rotor, until you push it past the first inch of the clutch and then it smooths out and doesn't squeak anymore, WHAT COULD THIS BE. The new clutch and everything has about 5,000 miles on it and that horrible squeaking is getting louder everyday , I almost want to shut it off at stoplights or at least hold the clutch in but I don't want to wear that POS TOB out. What is your solution, Do I have to drop tranny and if so what do you think this is , I have considered adjustable clutch cable and quadrent but that isn't going to fix the roughness. AND BTW the car is a 2000 mustang GT 5 speed(I know that was a given but I wanted to stick it in there) Thanks for all the help. Also O am considering a heavier clutch anyway like a centerforce as I am about to finish up my turbo kit for the car, but that me be another 6 months and I don't want to end up on the side of the road somewhere.

they are related too the same problem. ford has a TSB out on pedal rougness (pedal vibrates untill pushed in part ways) feels like a warped rotor in customer speak. the problem is the TOB is too far off the presuure plate. this is your noise porblem too.

ok easy fix.. the clutch is way the fu*k out of adjustment. get a firewall adjuster and quadrant. you will tank me after.. if you can't do that now. look under the dash you will see a plastic quadrant.

if you look close you will see it's 2 peices and they are meshed toghter liek a gear. adjust the cable tighter and then bend the metal clip so it will never auto adjust again. your problem is in the auto adjsuter, it failed on you.

re: roughness

if I adjust it that far , it makes the car really difficult to drive because the clutch doesn't grab till all the way out, and I wouldn't think it would be fully engaging in that case.

I am having the same exact problem with mine that started again about 5,000 miles after I replaced the TOB, Pilot Bearing, and and clutch. When I look underneath the dash, as the pedal rests normal, there is NO tension on the cable where the end of the cable meets the quadrant. Is this the kind of situation where I would want to do as you suggested for a quick fix until I can get an adjustable quadrant? I'm in school right now and money is tight, but this bothers the hell outa me.

Between my broken, rattling cat, my messed up driver window that cocks and pops when I roll it up and down, and the clutch pedal driving me insane, the car is just no fun to drive right now, but I almost cant do anything about it. Really sucks.

have you tried to auto adjust it by pushing the clutch about half way down then slipping yoru foot off of it? i do mine pretty much whenever i think about it and it makes everything so much smoother.

I just installed the Maximum Motorsports firewall adj, quad and their slightly modified OEM cable. I really like it and can adjust it just like I want from the firewall. Just in case you want to get an adjuster.

I'm not sure if this is the problem I'm having, but it sounds like it. I have a 94 GT. When my clutch pedal is out, my car is making more of a ticking sound rather than a squeaking sound. You push the clutch in about half way, and the sound goes away. You look underneath the car and you can see the clutch fork is vibrating I guess. You can put slight pressure on the clutch fork and the sound goes away. Does anybody know what the problem is? I've put a new throwout bearing, steel bearing retainer, and adjustable cable setup...and the problem still exists. The clutch was relatively new when I bought the car. Could it be the clutch fork? The car has a blower, if it's a heavy duty clutch, could it be too much for the stock clutch fork? Help?? Anyone?? Much appreciated. --Sean
