LOL what are my options here... its on a 97 cobra.

Its my friends car. The transmission has been replaced priorly, and looks like they rounded the top starter bolt out.. I can get a socket on it with a very long extention and get it from the front. It just spins. 13mm 6pt. 12 is too small , 1/2 spins.

when i did mine, i remember having no problems with it.. It came right out... its been awhile though.

any help?

Here's a thread I made with a sort of tutorial FWIW:

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=683094&highlight=starter+removal

If it is rounded off then you might be able to use those bolt removal tools (actually probably not enough room) ... I don't know why they put that stupid bolt back in!

Usually if a bolt is exposed/easy to get to, you can beat on a socket that's a size smaller and then spin it off with an impact but for that starter bolt its gonna be a challenge.

I used an Irwin stripped nut/bolt remover on one, and it worked like a champ. I found a nice 1/4 inch set of them for about $25. It's better if you have one long 1/4" extension though, as I was getting REALLY pissed off when my little ones kept falling apart on me.
