What weight are you all using for your motors? My motor is completely stock and i would like to put Royal Purple in on my next oil change....i need to know what weight i should put in. thanks!

Amsoil 0-30w or Mobil 1 5-30w. I used to run Royal Purple, but now I use Mobil 1 and I could never tell the difference. I have a hard time finding Royal Purple locally so the Mobile 1 does the job just as good. Amsoil is great, maybe the best, but it cost some $$$$$.

i just put Amsoil 5w-20 synthetic in today.. its rated to 6 months or 7,500 miles.. I'll probably change it at 6,000 though.

I run Royal Purple 5w-20 in the GT.

Mobil 1 is not a man made SYN, it dyno based.

Redline, amsoil, royal are 100% man made.

I get my Royal at most Napa stores or Summit Racing.

I call it CHEAP insurance at $40 a oil change.

Stay tunned, doing oil analise next month at a lab to see how long to leave it in.........

I've used royal purple and amsoil in the past and have been happy with both.

On my daily driver, I have used mobil 1 for 180,000 miles. I had to take the pan off a month ago to reseal it and there was almost no sludge at all in the pan and I've only flushed it once or twice in those 180,000 miles. On the average I change the oil every 4000 miles. Just something to thing about. I now run mobil 1 5w30 in my Mustang.

ok you guys...which weight should i use 5-20 or 5-30? i drive about 100 miles daily sometimes with stop and go traffic. i also have about 14k miles on the odometer i know thats friggin a lot for an 04 :( but i will be moving closer to work and soon and when i do i am giving my baby a break :)

I've been using Mobil 1 oil and their filter ever since I had my '95 Z28 and I havent had any problems. As far as viscosities go, 20 weight will not hurt your engine and you will see a slight increase in your gas mileage over the 30 weight.

i was reading on another webpage about the australian modular motors and the oil they run. they are built in US engine factories next to the us modular motors with the same specs and tolerances and they are running 10w30, 10w40 and 20w50 on their motors. nothing different, identical motors.

Iwould say its safe to run 5w-30 in HOTER climates.

The only reason for the weight change is less friction to gain MPG.

I run Syn 5w-20 till the engine has 60K on it, then switch to higher weight.

If U noticed the factory oil is a syn blend.................
