Royal Purple???

Maybe I'm just a dumb ass and ordered the wrong stuff I looked in my owners manual and it says it requires 3 quarts of ATF, so I went to advance auto where a buddy of mine works and he got me 3 quarts of Royal Purple Syncromax... it said it was for manual transmissions that require ATF, was this a good choice for my tranny fluid?? Thanks

the synrcromax is good stuff, i have it in my tranny, had bad grindin issues goin into second and the royal purple cleared it up a bit, didnt completley fix it but made it better

How many quarts do i need to get for an engine oil change n how much is it? - i didnt have time to look into it yet.... is there a specific kind or is all Royal Purple uniform??

I put soem RP oil in my car a few weeks ago. I can feel a little difference. But not ALOT. It was about $7.50 qt.

To me, royal purple is a waste of money. 8 bucks for 1 quart? that's 45 for 5 quarts plus 5 for a filter...50 bucks? f' that. I use pennzoil, but I've also noticed that valvoline makes a racing oil that's a full synthetic that i've heard good things about. In the past I've used castrol full synthetic or mobil 1.. Both are great, just the price kills ya.

For the last 130,000 miles, I've always used Havoline oil. No problems at all.

I'll probably stick with a synthetic when I go with either a new engine or a major rebuild.

That's what you want, MTL that is made for manual transmissions that take automatic tranny fluid. They have the right stuff for good synchro operation.

I have read tests where Royal Purple went against Amsoil and lost. I would run a synthetic over regular any day. In case you hadn't guessed I run Amsoil.

For those of you not wanting to spend the money for synthetic engine oil go to Walmart. They have their "House" brand "Super Tech" which I looked into on their MSDS sheets and it is made by a company that owns Pennzoil and Quaker state. It comes in quarts or a 5qt jug that is like less than $14 or under $3 a quart for full synthetic! No reason not to have synthetic I run this oil in all my daily driver cars.

you want quality oil in your engine and if it means 50 or up a oil change i will do it. i use wix racing filters there a little more then the norm. i cant find aimsoil around here can get it thru my dads autoparts store shipped from another city but.... never had a prob with royal purple so why change i use mobil 1 in my truck and my fiances car but i dont know about that stuff it seems like in both of them i hear ticking very slightly so im thinking of switching. Also never put it in my stangs but i use lucas oil stabilizer that **** rocks its really thick and coats every part really good used that in my old blazer with royal purple over 200000 miles and never a problem i just think it might be thick for my mustangs

Not to disagree, but per Redline's tech line, D4 is what is recommended for WC T5's. That said, I seem to recall some well-known trans guys in the business saying they like MTL. Even in the desert, I chose to run D4 (I wanted to run MTL because of the heat here). There's a reason D4 was created.

And it's been some time since I checked (definitely correct me if needed), but ST oil is a GP III+ oil. While a great quality oil for the money (I run it in some of the cars here myself), it's not a PAO basestock as far as I know.

Synthetic or dino oil, and in summer or winter (and what are your ambient temps during said periods)? For me atleast, it matters.

Generically, you want to run the least viscous oil you can, which maintains adequate pressure at all times (generally tested at hot idle).

I'm totally with this guy. The only difference you'll feel switching to this kind of oil is in 2 places.

1 - Your head, if you really think oil will give any kind of noticeable gain. Camshafts give noticeable gain, oil does not. If you changed your oil to regular dino oil, and ran it 100 miles, then changed to Royal Purple and ran it 100 miles, I'll bet my mustang you couldn't tell the difference.

2 - Your wallet.

i run 10-30 in my mustangs i dont drive them past september so winter is out of the question for me. i dont use royal purple because it gives my car "extra power" i use it because it last a long time without breaking down and its keep my cars reliable i worked in auto parts for a long time i know what certin other oils do to your engine. i WILL not use a cheap oil. your cars your investment not mine.

Often times you can go longer between oil changes with better oils. Their ability to suspend contaminants is better, as well as how quickly they breakdown, allowing you to leave it in their for longer. One example would be with your regular Mobile 1 compared to synthetic. I've talked to a Mobile 1 representative on the tech line about it and he said every 3,000 with regular but every 7,500 with synthetic. Other high end companies like Royal Purple, Redline, and Amsoil are even better than that. I wouldn't extend it further than 7,500 miles but you get the idea. My vote goes for Amsoil as well. It's a little more but a far superior product.
