Hello, I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I just got an 03 GT with a 5-speed a month ago and have been very frustrated with the "throttle hang" that many people experience. There is another thread on this site that talks about making a restricter plate, but I just use a 1/2 copper pipe cape and drilled a hole through it about a 1/4". That seemed to work great for me. I was just curious if anyone else has done this and their results. Also, what size hole worked best for you? For such a simple repair it really makes the car a lot more drivable considering there is no wait fo the revs to drop before shifting. Thanks in advance.

I used a 3/16 inch drill to make the first restrictor, and after installing the Steeda timing adjuster, went down to 9/64 th's.If you start small you can always open it up if the idle is too slow. This gives around 750-800 rpm at idle even in cold weather(around 33*).It did help the 3650 shift problem they have with grinding 2nd and 3rd when cold. The pipe cap restrictor that I made didn't fit tightly in the hose so I expanded the open end with a large punch, you could do the same thing with a couple of turns of electrical tape.I did this a month ago and have had no ill effects.

That is good to hear that you have done it with no ill affects. It is tough to do something to a relatively new car when you do not know the side affects. Is this a common practice among Mustang owners? Is that why I haven't been able to find much info on it. Thanks guys for the help.
