lately my car has been having rpm spikes from 300-500 rpms differences. When at idle it goes from 1000 to 1500. I changed the erg valve without any luck. I did find tho that the vacume hoes that connects to the top of the ERG valve isn't sucking at all, im not sure if its suppose to or not. That hoes goes into a black "thing" with a filter inside of it, and when ui suck on that it vibrates and does not hold in the air. Could this be the problem if so what is this part? if not where should i begin to look next.
My car is a 1997 mustang gt with 4.6L engine. The spikes also happen while in gear and driving.

take off the iac and use some cleaning spray on it. and I guess check your throttle screw to see if it is set a hair too low because that can happen in that case.
