rpm's reved up but no power

hey question....in the morning when i'm taking my kids to school my car drives fine, but when i get to a stop light and take off in first my rpm's rise but i don't seem to have any power until i shift to second then i have my power back...and if i have to stop and then start again....everythings fine after that.....

check the transmission fluid...

how does the car run in 5th at WOT?

well, i could throw a random guess out there, but i dont have enough info. sounds like a tranny issue and its heating up makes it go away. thats all i can really say for now.

i'll check my trans fluid.....its just when i first drive i have no problem ....about 1/2 mile down the street i get to the intersection to stop, after a green light i start to go, that when my rpm's rev up and i feel like i have no power, when i shift to second all my powers back....then the next time i come to a stop and then start i have no problem....strange huh???

Grady's thought is the same as mine. With gearing, you might be slipping it in first, but second gear+ dont necessarily make it slip that you notice.

Where is the Point of engagement?

I have been noticing the same and I think my clutch is slightly slipping, how I found out is I Was doing a brakestand the other day and comming out of it my clutch started slipping pretty good.
