I'll be doing the swap in about 3 wks or so. There's one thing I don't quite grasp and it is where exactly does the RTV go on the PI gasket...

I saw the pics posted on stangnet (by TGJ) with the one with the circle and all but still not sure where it goes.

According to the picture, the RTV seems to go on the lower right side of the actual intake port hole. Right on the blue lining of the gasket?

I also read the RTV had to go on the water jacket (don't know what those are yet but just wondering).

Why do we need to put RTV on the actual blue gasket lining?

Thanks
Al

The reason that the RTV is required on the coolant ports using the PI gaskets is that the NPI head has a larger coolant passage than the PI head. The gasket will not seal correctly without the RTV and you will leak coolant.
