If you do put that other dust boot on their make sure it does not get caught in the shifter stops. From personal experience i can tell you that it can screw your trans up big time just as if the stops werent backed off far enough.
I have my lower boot sitting flush with the top of the shifter so very little, if any dirt gets in it. And personally i would rather rather clean and regrease the shifter every once in a while than have to rebuild the trans.
Not to say that you'll have the same problem i had, but i'm just forewarning you that one day my trans started popping out of first gear and by the time i realized that the rubber boot was getting between the stop on my old hurst shifter and the shifter handle the first gear synchro and dog teeth were shot. That was $250.00 in parts and several hours of agravation rebuilding it that I did not need.
