Rumour about aluminum driveshaft $$$!

I thing its abunch of :bs: The person who started the thread is for a company, and says not to mention the price increase... I think hes just out there to scare people so they will go out and buy one, thus giving him more money.

The price of everything is going up . In the new Edelbrock catalog, their suggested list price is $838.95, per cylinder head. Everyone go out and buy the heads while they're cheap. Soon enough they will be $1677.90 for a set of cylinder heads! Another uninformed idiot.

i don't doubt it. there is a steel shortage going on b/c of Iraq. the price of nails and other little stuff is going up and there has been amount caps on how much a single company/person can purchase.

I can definitely see the price of steel having a profound impact on the price of an aluminum driveshaft...

My dad is in the scrap business. ALUMINUM has gone up 50% in the last couple of months, if that helps at all.

Furthermore, I'll add that I paid over 200 for my aluminum ds as poweredbyford, who were just selling them a month earlier at the lower price. My joints were bad so i didnt feel like driving back from orlando, and they didnt charge me to install it while they were doing my gears. They also stated that the prices were going up quick.

Hmmmph...weird.
I work for the U.S.'s largest steelmaker, and we aren't selling any more steel than we were 6 months ago...

I do know that China, who is the largest exporter of ore, has quadrupled their price in the last 6 months.

We do export a lot of steel to China however. Kinda ironic that our U.S. carmakers and other big companies prefer the "deals" and like buying cheap (as in cheap QUALITY) imported steel, but the Chinese prefer to use ours...lol...
