I CURRENTLY AM BUILDING A 347 ON A STOCK BLOCK,DISH PISTONS,I BEAM 4340 RODS AND CRANK. MAIN GIRDLE AND HEAD STUDS 7 QT PAN BALANCED TO 28 OZ. TRICK FLOW HEADS, TRICK FLOW R-INTAKE, BLUE PRINTED. AFTER THE BREAK IN PERIOD I HAVE A 9# POWERDYNE I AM INSTALLING.:flag:
1. NOW HERE IS THE PROBLEM CAN COOLING BECOME AND ISSUE AND WILL A TWO ROW ALUM RADIATOR FIX IT? NOT REALLY A BRAND NAME.

2. INJECTORS ARE 30#S RIGHT NOW AND I THINK I NEED MORE SHOULD I USE AN FMU THAT I HAVE OR SELL IT AND GET 42# INJ. WITH PROPER MAF.

3. THROTLE BODY I HAVE A 65mm RIGHT NOW SHOULD I GO 75mm

4. I HAVE STEEDA ALUM FUEL RAILS SHOULD I INSTALL THESE WITH A T-REX PUMP AND THE CAR OEM FUEL LINE OR WILL THIS BE A PROB. SOMEONE TOLD ME THIS SETUP WILL STARVE THOSE LINES @ FULLTHROTTLE AND LEAN OUT. I ALSO HAVE INSTALLED A 190lph PUMP DO I NEED A 255 lph.

5. ANYONE RUNNIN SIMILAR COMBOS PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT ELSE YOU HAVE FOUND AS AN ISSUE.:hail2:

1. It depends. Our cars seem to be very hit and miss on cooling issues. If you run all water with a 160* thermostat and change your fan settings, you shouldn't have a problem.

2. Do it right and use 42's.

3. Hell yes.

4. You need a 255 + T-Rex inline pump. Stock fuel lines will be fine with those rails.

5. There should be no issues if it's built and tuned right.

Oh, and lay off the caps....;)

Joe

#1. Yes, it can. Only one way to find out....
#2. 30'sare NOT enough for the combo with supercharger. An FMU would patch the WOT issues, but do nothing for the drivability issues you are going to experience.
#3. 75mm. or 90mmif you do a fox TB swap.
#4. If I'm not mistakenthe T-rex is 190 LPH, so if youo already have one, it's redundant toinstall the T-rex. Especially if you have a 255in the tank, as then the T-rex becomes a restriction. I don't know for sure, just kind of thought I heard it somewhere. Perhaps someone else will offer both of us more assistance.
Supposedly the STOCK fuel rails are good to around 600hp, so I don't think you'll have problems. My combo does NOT lean out (I have an onboard wideband) or experience fuel pressure loss at the top end, and I have the 255 in tank and the T-rex feeding stock fuel rails and 42's....
#5 You will need some type of method to tune this, as it will have idle issues, and driveability issues. I use a Tweecer. Others get it custom tuned. Your choice, but be prepared. Also, you WILL have the potential to break the stock block....

you need the fox tps with the piece of the harness that plugs into it.

fox intake

fox AIC

either a fox egr plate or an egr eliminator bracket from upr

will that powerdyne even suport enough air flow for your combo? I would look into an s trim

Stop your build and get a better block. Don't regret it later, and don't tell yourself you'll do it down the road. Just enjoy being able to turn the boost up as soon as it's broken in. You run a HIGH risk of blowing your **** way up even at 9#s. You could ruin some or all of your sweet-ass new rotating assembly. IF MONEY ALLOWS, DO IT. It's one of those things you won't regret. When you hear stories of stock blocks living up to 550, that's one in a million, and they're probably using a turbo. Your supercharger is going to love the revs, and probably split it down the middle.

You were smart to balance it 28oz. I know first hand what happens to a pretty brand new forged crank that gets put at 50oz.

If you have to do it on two bolt, use an aluminum girdle. Aluminum dampens harmonics better. Even if people tell you girdles will only hold your parts in a neat pile, you'll have that going for you.

Well I understand that I might need a new block but money may not permit..all I can do is secure it with a girdle and head studs. But with this combo I see it possible to see about 6#s with a 9# pulley on my powerdyne but boost is boost why would that powerdyne differ so much on the s-trim. I will try to keep my combo runnin under 6200 rpms and try to restrict it to 500bph

would it be better to go with a brand new block instead of machining the old one.

What happens when a "pretty brand new forged crank gets put at 50oz"? I'm curious...

Well I dont know what else to do. Still no anwsers on why my powerdyne wont produce enough cfm I think

hate to break it to you, but powerdynes aren't the greatest supercharger

their numbers are subpar on a h/c/i 302, and that number is gunna change on a 347. if you haven't already bought the blower i say get a dart block, then build your 347 and spray it. later on down the road when budget allows then do a vortech s-trim

i understand that powerdynes are not very good at producing higher boost ranges. but it must be better than spray. i ran spray for 4 years and it suck to refill and power only at full throtle. You know how much will a dart block run me. Also spoke to a machine shop out in cali and they said the prep their new motorsport blocks to handle 700 hp i think it is a little to much but said my combo should produce only about 450-480 is that true? please dail in I am sure I am clearing up alot of questions. Also I would like anyone that has had powerdyne to dail in and if you made the switch to Vortec. What is your experience.

unless these new "motorsport" blocks are either Dart, world, r302, or A4 they can not handle the power no matter what they claim, you need to remeber this is your hobby but its thier business and there gonna try to sell you whatever you ask for... my .09228 c

Note taken stroke n blown I see what your saying so are there any other options other than the dart. How about the Sportsman Block I hear that might be cheaper to find than a 3000 dollar block

no the sportsman is still a 2 bolt design your not gonna get a reliable 500+hp car w/o spending 2,400 bucks on a block. it sucks but thats the way it is, now there are people out there making great #'s w/ stock blocks, i thought i was going to one of them so i baught ever girdle know to man and had a top of the line engine builder make up the eng. well the block cracked in half and i coulda baought a dart block for the money i spent right away.

if you want big #'s you need one of the three dart,r302,world, or a4 ifyou can find one. (not to mention trans, clutch,posi/spool, and a huge fuel sys.) Now second idea is to go to a 351 then you can make more power but again there is a limit.

stupid limits i hate limits, something is always limiting..

So there are diff kinds of dart blocks? you mentioned three. I know that I have to baby my t-5 untill I can get a G-force t5 in there. and my tru-trac will soon be checkin out with new power but baby steps. I am runnin on my third t5 rebuild but i know that I am gonna be blowing a gear pretty good after a while. but I will cross that bridge later.
