Yea, strange as it sounds when I turn the A/C on I can see and feel a noticeable difference in hp on my 05 with a Doug 93 Race Bama tune.

It's like having another 10 hp on tap. I lauch quicker and the front end raises up more compare to same scenario without the A/C running.

I have emailed Doug to see what he thinks, but I would like to see if any of you have noticed it with your tunes.

Thanks, Dewman

Hmm.. The A/C Shuts off at WoT either way.. So im not sure how you are judging that it has more power????

All, I can say I'm in trouble cause it like finding another 15 hp. I'm not doing Wot just below that and it like having a new tune going.

Exhaust is louder and it pulls stronger. Need to get to the dyno and see what the deal is.

Probably becuase once the A/C kicks on the fan starts to run. Thus cuasing cooler air to flow across the motor. This is all based on the heat here in Texas though.....

When the a/c is on, cooler air will blow across the driver's engine, but hotter air will blow across the car's engine.

no, having the a/c on doesn't make your car any faster.

Maybe or maybe not.

Like I mentioned the only real way is doing a dyno or at the track to do a side by side comparison.

But perception is everything. Bottom line is we have cars that look good and are really fun to drive.

Yea I notice the same thing but it's only because you expect the car to be noticeably slower. It's all perception. I noticed it in my 98 gt as well.

Okay guys, this is out of hand. The A/C running does not create more HP in your car; there is absolutely no doubt about that! Saying that having the A/C operating will boost your HP violates the laws of physics. If you can show that it does increase HP, you may just win a Nobel Prize in Physics. Energy is transferred from the engine to the A/C system. The A/C system uses that energy to take the heat out of the air entering your car. This process takes energy away from your engine and decreases your HP. Enough said!

While I'm very VERY skeptical on this, I hope to be going to the dyno on Thursday, and I'll give it a whirl on my last poll, just to put an end to this.

Track officials get pissed when you run the A/C on the track. Water on the track = nono

i think the problem here is that with the A/C on, the car is a dog. once you open the throttle, the A/C kicks off and you get back to normal power. this difference could be what everyone is feeling.

Never in my years have I heard leaving the air on to give power. lol

My car feels slow as crap with it on.

Agreed. I'm not going to waste a dyno run. Besides, I don't want to get water all over the place. But that makes perfect sense, and I'm sure is the reason for the "feeling" of more hp.

With the A/C on it pulls down so hard on the power when it engages it sounds like I’m stepping on the gas with this O/R pipe on here. I can hear the click of it engaging, the exhaust note changes and it feels like I’ve tapped the break and riding it.
Stomp it to the floor and bang some gears it feels fine though.
