running and now a lifter noise need advice???

I had it running open exhause untill my cat-back came and didnt hear the lifter ticking......now that the exhaust is done, lifters on the pass side are ticking(loud) I pulled the VC and found two rockers were NOT zero lash. I pulled the rocker and swaped pushrods with a tight rocker and it still is loose. I also swaped rockers to that position and still loose. It must be the roller lifter. Do they go bad? is this what they call a collapsed lifter? these are new take offs that only had 1000k on them. They came from a friend and his didnt tick at all.... real quiet. All were torqued to the correct specs. any ideas?
