So about 3 months ago i acquired a 2002 all stock v6 mustang with about 121k miles on it and of recently as i drive the car it seems to feel kind of like it rocks back and forth some what of a jumpy feeling to it i am not really sure how to explain it but this seems to only happen around when i am going 15-35 after i reach 40 it runs fine. I am not a car expert or anything just looking for some help on the vehicle also the car is getting very bad gas mileage something like 10-12 per gallon .

If anyone could help me out here it would be great.

My car did the same about 5 years. One scenerio, could be that you got a batch of bad gas, and can be solved by adding a fuel system cleaner with a full tank of gas from a trusted name brand gas that has additives that help protect your car's engine as it's being used (Chevron, Shell, etc.).

Based on my experience, I would also try having your fuel filter changed, and a change of your spark plugs and wires also. Making sure that your air filter is cleaned and not clogged can help increase your mileage as well.

I've heard of brakes dragging, once from my friend, that would cause a similar problem, but that's not a usual problem.

These are just some quick and easy solutions that may help with your problem. If these don't help your problems, you might have to take it in to have it looked at by a professional.

Actually i forgot to mention but i did have my oil and fuel filter changed about 1k miles ago and it didn't seem to solve the problem at all. I have heard possibly changing the fuel injectors on it could fix this problem i am having but i am no car expect so no telling i guess i may just have to take it in like you suggested.

What i mean by the rocking is it's like jerking back and forth it's hard to explain but i guess if you were to accelerate then step on the brake kind of to where you would get a feeling if it jerking forward then pulling back but it does this all the time even when i am not accelerating or braking.

Glad I found this thread, tried and much better! I think the wiring harness on my mass air control may be the problem but ford disc. the part and having terrible time finding a used 98 in the junkyard. If I leave disconnected will it harm the electronics on the car, as I understand it kind of acts similar to the choke on an older carb . This has been plaguing me for 4 months, and the only help I have found in a garage is to be sold a 100.00 miracle in a bottle induction cleaner. Do that my self and run fuel additives as directed. Have yet to find someone who will actually drive the car, they only hook comp up to it and say everything is fine.
