i was geting on it yesturday out in the country and when my engine got to around 5K it seemed to fall on its face, and being afraid of it running lean i pushed the clutch in....what are the symptoms of it running out of fuel??

or could it be the igniton? car has factory igniton with a crane coil and MSD wires and MSD distro..i have a crane igniton but have not hooked it up

also running a 255 intank pump with factory fuel lines and fuel rails with a kirban FPR and 42lb injectors....

any ideas?

If you're talking about what's in your sig, it's quite possible you're running lean at higher RPMs. I'm certainly not the fuel system expert but that seems like a good guess to me. You didnt list anything about what fuel pump or regulator youre using in your sig, is it all stock? What kind of numbers is your motor making? You might in all seriousness need to upgrade your whole fuel system if you're making big numbers. It's not uncommon for the stock fuel lines to just not be able to carry enough fuel for the motor at high RPMs. As for the pump, my old 351W ran off of a Holly Red, but fell flat at the quarter because it ran lean...so i think you hit the nail on the head with this one.

I'd check the fuel filter and all that BS first before you start throwing parts on. But, if you have a stock pump i'd put that down on your upgrade list ASAP even if the filter is clean. You may want to get some dyno time if you havent, that way you can sort out the best AF ratio for the higher RPMs and dial in your fuel pressure.

Yeah. It doesn't sound like an ignition problem. I would check the basics like 85_SS_302_Coupe said first. Did it just start doing this? Has it run ok in the past with the same combo?

If you still have the old TFI module on the distributor, it is suspect. The stock TFI often gets hot and fails to work at high RPM. The result is an engine that runs strong and then seems to quit at RPM above 4000.

as i said in my first post..i have a 255 intank pump..and a kirban fuel presure regulator set at 41/42psi at idle...also the TFI is new.....its a MSD billet distro

not sure on what numbers its maken ..but id guess around 450

not sure about if it just started cause ever since i got the new motor installed and running iv never ran it that high of a RPM WOT...just part throttle or half...but it fell on its face close to 5K RPM at WOT

well, after a few days i was looken under the hood while it was running and noticed the fuel psi was turned way down to almost 30...so im guessing that was the problum...in the past i had the motor up around 5K before with out a problum when the fuel psi was at 41

but...in your guys opinion..wouldnt you think that with stock fuel lines and stock fuel rails..even with a 255 intank pump it would still run out of gas up high??
