after cleaning it up a little bit...

painted

sanded

compare....my dads to mine

back on mine...i should of stripped the intake and painted that while i had it out....now it looks funky...

Well, whatever you do, dont do it the lazy way like ive seen some people, and try to paint the intake while its on the car...

If you kep up with that much attention to deatil, youll definately have a damn nice car when youre done.

Nice work going on here, and your engine is much cleaner than the old mans...

On a side note I finally got to use my dyed black interior on some trips. I can say it does NOT hold up well to abuse. My arm rest pad on the door is worn through within the first week, and that had an easy 10-15 coats. The kick panels and rear 1/4s have red showing, and there are scratches in it that red shows through. Now my car went through hell its first real week on the road, but I think it has influenced me to buy a black interior.

I wish it was only 4 hours a day...

its 800miles, took 20 hours to get there, and 2 damn days to get home. Had the windows down in some rain because we needed the heat on for the defroster, and sweating and such... I probably put 2000 miles on it in the matter of a week, and my dye did not hold up well. I also prepped it right, scuffed, cleaned and degreased, adhesion promoter, and a ton of light coats of dye.

idk the ONLY piece i have problems with is the door sills becasue when i get in and out my foot sometimes scuffs it....i can take my fingernail and try and scratch anywhere else on the dash, door panels ect and it don't come off....

Cool, glad yours is holding up better. I must have either got unlucky, or some other factor is causing the dye to come off or wear. I plan to keep some dyed stuff, and some stock original black stuff.

I took a screwdriver to the armrest to test it in front of my friends, it does seem to hold up pretty good. You just really need to clean and prep the material before painting.

I prepped them as best as could be done. Scuffed, degreased, adhesion promoter at least 2 or 3 coats, and then a ton of dye. This was how I was told to prep it, so unless thats wrong, thats what I did. My arm rest got scratched by the seat when I was putting that in, the black wore off where my elbow rests on it as well. The kick panls have some scuffing, and the center console has some red showing from something hitting it.

I mifhr have just been unlucky with mine, but I know I will be going original black with the rest of it.
