sad sad day........ no more starbucks......:(

They can't force me to leave private property unless management, the owner, or the leasing party requests that I vacate the premises. At that point, a return to the property would result in criminal trespass.

The cop began his speech by saying that management of Fred's and the Wells Fargo Bank wanted us to leave. Enough said.

Well if were getting coffee from starbucks or moonstrucks whitch btw there is plenty of parking in front of moonstrucks then fredmeyers can kiss are ass because they do not have authority over the whole parking lot. You know weve hung out there for a very long time
years in fact and I cant understand why some want to run and hide with there tail between there legs because two cops out of hundreds that have passed threw there over the years say we cant go there I wouldnt give up so easy, but I guess a little drama is needed to offset the winter months

Damn tell it like it is steve! So what made you come back on S/N? peace

Remember back when S/N crashed and alot of people lost their accounts, well I thought I lost mine, but come to find out I just forgot the password so I figured I could come back when I learned that my account was still around.

Cool well good to see ya back! peace

So if they show up while we are there and we DONT choose to leave, whats the worst they can do to us? But it almost sounds like the easiest thing to do is find another spot? peace

Well I wouldnt reccomend not leaving when they ask you to leave and thats not what I was saying. But a few return trips would definately be a good idea to see if these cops were the only ones that dont want us there. But yes its always easier to just walk away, but I dont know about everyone else but im not ready to just walk away without looking into the situation and atleast stoping by a few more times. Hell its winter anyway why not just wait intil it warms up a little and those cops probaby wont be around that area anymore anyway and all this :SNSign: drama will be for nothing or maybe entertaining for some I guess lol

I agree with Ed, this is one cop out of hundreds in the city, he may have just been having a bad night. Couple that with the "safety in numbers" factor, are they going to throw people out in the summer, when there are so many people there? Possible but not as likely.

I say we test the waters a bit in the spring, and if we have to, move it to DQ or something.

It really sucks, our crowd is mostly adults, and we are very laid back, clean up our mess, and dont go flying out of there with our tires smoking. We all know who ruined this for us, and maybe we need to find a place that's ricer-free. Or maybe the Beaverton cops should start cracking down on these kids with their fartcans tearing thru the lot shifting at 7k.

If the owner of the parking lot asks us to leave, and we refuse, that is criminal trespass. It is a little gray on whether or not a relayed eviction from the cop is good enough to count. But if you guess wrong it'll cost some bucks for a lawyer to fix the situation.

Then there is loitering. The Oregon Supreme Court has pretty well killed any loitering laws at the state level as unconstitutional, but some cities still have them. Simply hanging around in a parking lot is probably not good enough technically, but if the cop arrests you it just got expensive even if you are ultimately found innocent.

What it comes down to is ... even if the cop is a prick, you pretty much gotta do what he says unless it is seriously unreasonable. Best bet is politely acquire his name and bitch later to the department (or the citizen review board, assuming there is one).

And then find a different spot ... which is not directly across from a police station. And no teenagers allowed... or at least, nobody that isn't part of our crowd. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be getting hassled if it weren't for the big influx of non-Mustang folks that started showing up late in '06.

Pisses me off. It is what they want. The have free reign to harrass us because our legal system makes it to difficult to stop the harrassment.

Karma's an angry bitch. I bet his wife is hideous. We all come out even in the end....

Anyone catch his name? I know a couple Beav PD officers and I will ask about this tool next time I see them.:D

Nothing new, but all things considered, we were actually hanging out at the WFB lot, but considering the fact that there are no posted signs against trespassing or loitering, the police should never had said anything. We shouldn't be surprised though, first cruising laws are established because of troubles with kids and cars out at all night, then street racing problems so they open up PIR to help alleviate some of the troubles with kids and cars, then local hangouts get taken away because of the troubles with kids and cars. Just because we drive a certain make or most of us are adults out there, it shouldn't favor one group from the next to decide who gets to hang out where. I say we hang out until signs are posted or more harrasment from the law continues, then we can go to the city council and make a showing and stand up for our rights as citizens who want to do nothing but get out of the house and hang out with other gearheads or find another place to hang out.

Im with you on that one, couldnt of said it better:nice:

This problem has a very easy solution. All someone needs to do is walk into the bank and ask to speak to a supervisor, or someone in charge. Very professionally tell them that we have been meeting in their parking lot almost every weekend during summers and ocassionaly during the winter and have never had a problem.

We have never de-faced anything, nor never did any permanant damage there and ask permission from that person to continue using their lot. If they agree to this then get something written on their letter head and problem solved. The cops can't say a thank as it's WFB parking lot not Starbucks, and they can't say jack isht to that.

I agree with this 100%. With the right presentation, the manager might just go for it. Its good for brand awareness, as we have all these shiny cars by their shiny signs, and hey maybe we could offer to have a "cleanup day" where we all volunteer to clean up their lot or something. I dont know, just bouncing ideas around. I'm a wells fargo customer, and all their people have always been fantastic with me, maybe the manager of this one is cool as well.
