Just acquired my grandads 90 GT Convertible, need help fixing the Driver door. It's sagging and doesn't line up when shutting. Also, the inside handle won't close all the way.

My guess would be door pins and bushings on the hinges. Hopefully it hasn't gone so lone that the hinges themselves are not worn.

As far as the interior door handle not laying down flat (at least that is what I am assuming you are saying) this video on how they are installed may help trouble shoot.

It could also be a function of the closing issue, cable issue, or the latch mechanism has a problem.

Also check the door striker at the back of the door jamb, when the door starts to sag the metal around the striker get beat up and cracks from people slamming the door trying to close it.

Cool beans, the striker is beat up. I know in the past, some buttheads tried breaking into drivers side door one night, but no luck. He did have to get that fixed, probly needs to things in it.

Most that sag, all ready have worn out lower hinges that will need welding or replaced. All most every one I've seen sagging badly are so far egged out, that an over size bushing won't help. Best to weld it up some then clean it up with a reamer. I also use 80's ford van style pins and bushings since there thread on the ends vs pins holding them in place. Allows you to tighten the hinge a bit more, factory ones are more like a rivet fit and clamp the hinges a bit and all the replacement ones offered for the fox body kind of suck.

.. there Shown in this clip, I bought bulk bushings and a reamer sized for them years ago since a lot of the cars I owned had that issue on the lower door side hinge and that's welded on. One GM bushing has a slightly over sized OD, with the same inside diameter without being splined but can't think of the part number off hand, don't care for the splined bushings at all, cracked way to many of those...
