Hello Guys,

I hope that you are all well today. Can any of you tell me what type of shifter Saleen used in their cars? The shift throw, and feel, is so much different than that of my 01 GT. I did not buy the Saleen new, so the shifter MAY have been changed out.

Thanks,

Dale

As far as I know they used Hurst shifters. I know they did on the foxbody Saleens. Better then stock but far from the better stuff available. I am using a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter. Allot better then the hurst shifter and so far superior to a stock Ford unit.

I didn't really care for the stock Saleen Hurst shifter. I switched to the MGW and it is so much better. Really a night and day difference.

On my 03 it had a Hurst shifter. I went with the MGW and have not missed the Hurst or missed a shift...Easy install too.

On my T5 it was the hurst with the cheap stock handle. I think it shiffed better than my TKO500. On the TKO I just put on the MGW handle on.

I have read that the Steeda Tri-Ax shifters are one of the best, but that they make quite a bit of gear noise. Is there any way to keep the noise down???

I have the Steeda shifter and I have no gear noise. I've never heard that about the shifter. It works flawlessly for me and I'm using a Tremec TKO tranny.

It's a great shifter and it does have some gear noise. I have a hard time hearing over my exhaust though. There is a guy that makes a gasket that is supposed to get rid of most of the noise. Not sure what board he's on.

Steeda Tri-ax in my car. Wayyyyy better than stock. More positive shifts. Reverse can be a pain but who cares about reverse

Quality of construction, positive shifts, zero trans noise or vibration.

not quite sure what year you're talking, but in my 01 it was stock ford shifter. i think they usually only change the shifter handle for throw, but i put the Steeda Tri-Ax and that is by far the best shifter ever made!

my 06 extreme has a saleen shifter but im not crazy about it...definately better than stock though.

On the 1999-2004 S281 Saleen utilized the bargain basement Hurst short throw with the stock handle and rubber shifter bushing.
