i guess i should be more specific on what kind of car it is going on, i have an 87 lx t-top car that i am restoring and i plan on changing the look to more of the cobra with the gt front end ,cobra sides and cobra rear .i am also going to change the door moldings to the gt style so yes it would be a cobra clone. i could put the cobra wing on as well but i have always loved the look of the saleen wings.so yes i am partial to saleen wings and didn't really appreciate the cobra wings when they first came out in 93 but they have since grown on me.

isn't this the lx style wing that is stretched out like a saleen?not my favorite i think my favorite would have to be the double stacked saleen wing which was really an lx wing with another wing on top .

i already have the gt front and cobra rear and i had the cobra side skirts but they were fiberglass so i sold them . i plan on getting new ones from cervinis down the road.i also have the upper and lower cobra intake with the lower mildly ported and i have all the wiring to do the mass air conversion except for the computer. i guess i will let the cat out of the bag ,i plan on doing a t-top version of the asc mclaren.everyone has done the cobra conversion and i love every one of them but anyone who is familiar with mclarens would tell you that 89-90mclarens were the first to have those sides skirts and rear bumper.i have all the badges and rear taillights as well as the center console and armrests.ascmclaren was going to come out with a hardtop economical version of the mclaren but for some reason backed out .i do have a pic of this car from a magazine photo and it sports an lx wing.i currently have a dugan wing which is more rounded and fits the mclaren scheme kind of the like the roundedness of the bubble hatched wings of the capri based mclarens.i now have changed my mind and thinking of going with either the saleen or cobra wing since i think look the best on our foxbody mustangs.i am also going to make a new emblem for my upper cobra intake using the cobra emblem as a guide. it will say ascmclaren instead and more than likely be made of stainless steel.the front seats that i have are recaros and will be reupholstered in black leather to go along with the rest of the interior which will be black .the exterior will be the ford edge copper color.i am currently working on this car and it is a complete rolling shell and surprisingly with very little rust.i hope to have this car on the road by next summer and will post plenty of pics as the project progress.i don't plan on going to far with the motor now especially with the way gas prices are but i do plan on a few mods minus the cam.

haha sounds just like how my project is going. Mine is getting a black and silver theme throughout the whole car. The engine is going to be all black with silver/aluminum pulleys. The intake is going to be silver. The block and headers are going to be black. The valve covers are going to be painted to match my two tone theme for the outside of the car. I'm currently about 70% done with smoothing out the engine bay. And I JUST finished stripping my 89 (RIP). Now I just need about 1300 bucks in parts and I will have everything (not including paint materials.) And EVERYTHING is being done by me so I know how it was done and how it was put together. I haven't posted many pics of the progress in a while. I also plan on having the car running and driving by next summer. The body work may or may not be done but it will definatly be running. Well, if all goes well.

sounds like mine as well because i want to black powdercoat the upper cobra intake. as far as the valve covers the black powered by ford covers with the streaks will look killer.i really like the contrast of the copper color with the black it should really stand out.i'm also going with the svo sailpanel quarterwindows because i think they look the best when painted body color, and gets rid of the mustang lettering and gets people thinking when they see this car going down the road what is that ?and did they really make a hardtop mclaren? i just finished cleaning up the floorpans i will be borrowing my friends welder and get started on welding and smoothing out the engine bay. i haven't used a welder in 17 years so this should be fun.i haven't got a restoration thread started because i have two young kids under five that occupy my time as well .i am taking too long with this project and my neighbors think i am crazy restoring this thing.

i was leaning towards the saleen wing for nostalgic reasons because i had it on my 90 lx. i guess i will be going with the cobra because i agree with the cleaner lines and i am older and don't want to attract too much attention.

alot of it is because the car has no bumper. it is the same size as the saleen wing just one length all the way around.

Just my opinion, but Saleen wings even look stupid on Saleens. Steeda also wind tunneled the Saleen/GT/LX/Cobra wings and found the LX made the most down force, so the big gaudy Saleen is mostly just Steve Saleen and his funky style. This is why the Steeda wing looks like an extended LX, because it builds on what the LX already is, and just makes more of it. That said, of all the wings available i think the Cobra wing is the best looking.
