Save Carlsbad Raceway!

I wish everyone the best of luck in trying to keep it alive. Several years back in Charlotte, NC the locals got the Drag Strip closed down even after we mounted a courthouse protest and petition after petition to stop it. California has some edge over NC though with the way they have funds available for Recreational Facilities.
As a 27 year resident of North County and a 15 year resident of Carlsbad, I have sent my emails and letters.
Obviously I support this effort 100%.
The City of Carlsbad has made many bad desisions in the past under the leadership of Mayor Bud Lewis. This is just another one.
I will do what ever I can to help save our track and hopefully improve it so that it could be the type of facillity that would draw in revenue for the city because that is the only way it will survive.
We all know how badly San Diego needs some place like this. All you have to do is look at the long lines at Qualcoms Race Legal to realize that, but unfortunately it is the narrow minded elitist City counsel we are up against.

well that sucks. and they are also trying to shut down the races at the Q. but i heard they have a few more dates to extend it. why are they closing down the race tracks.
i know in pomona they are trying to close the strip because residents say it's too loud. well the fact of the matter is, they moved in AFTER the track. they knew how loud it was when they moved in and now they are trying to get rid of something they were completely aware of when they got there. the track was there before them. they ended up shutting down the street legals there and are trying to shut the track down completely.

I don't get it 
Now our legal options in the SanDigo area have been severely narrowed down if they close the Q and Carlsbad. You still have BARONA as an option

There is a very good effort under way to save the track.
I have just joined their petition committee and will be circulating one for signitures at Qualcom Friday the 10th.

I will also let you know when we are planning demonstrations at the site and you can join in. Legal action is being taken as we speak to halt the destruction of the track. Get involved if you can.

One thing is for sure, at the very least, for the safety of the general public, that track needs to stay open.

That seems to be a common misconception.
The bulldozing that was done was unrelated to the demize of the track.
I am on the pettition commitee for a group of organized citizens who are spearheading an effort to have the land made into a public off road recreation area with funds which are already been alocated by the government. They have hired lawyers and are in the process of making this all happen.
GO TO THE website and register. The more people that do the better our chances get!
