My forensics class made a little trip to the cadaver lab here at my school :nice: , it wasnt mandatory but I figured it might be kinda cool to check out some dead people. Well, I was really wrong. It was all good until I started to think about how the little 84 year old lady I was looking at used to live. (this is all going through my head while the guy was holding her heart and peeling it open:barf: ), Then I started to get a little whoozy and light headed, by the time I told my professor I was leaving, I had lost half my vision. :notnice: hahaha It took me about 15 minutes of cold fresh air to come back to normal functioning. I guess I'll stick to working on cars. Just thought I would humor you guys with my queeziness. It was disturbing.

You and me both man. I'm not cut out the medical career field at all. It's not the site of blood and gore so much as it is the smell.

Ah, cadaver lab. Some things you just miss. I absolutely loved it. Kinda strange, I guess. The whole secret to gross anatomy is to dehumanize it. You can't think of the cadaver as being someone's grandmother/grandfather/mother/father.

It was easy for me for some reason.

My Great Uncle was a mortician for a while until one day a 5 year old little girl was rolled in... he took one look at her and quit on the spot- then he bacame a Sherrif's Deputy lol...

Even tough guys crack- everyone has their limit :)

Yea, once I started thinking about who she is, and who her kids are, I started feeling uncomfortable and it escalated from there. If someone told me it was fake I'd be totally down with it, well at least i think i would. lol

Oh yea- forgot to mention...

If one were to ask my wife what her favorite memory is, she'll tell you next to our wedding day, it's the day in Nursing clinicals that she got to watch an open heart surgery... she saw the heart completely packed with ice and then removed.

I have a sick Registered Nurse Wifey

LOL my wife is a RN and is the exact same way... I hate it when we are eating dinner and she starts telling me all this gross stuff.

You've never been to a funeral/wake?
lucky guy...

I saw a dead body once, in FL near Pensacola, a few road workers had been playing soccer on the side of the freeway, something happened and one guy stuck his head into traffic and it was REMOVED!! Have had nightmares since!

I work in surgery, and have seen a few dead bodys. The open heart and knees and brains doesnt bother me. I have seen organs harvested, this is when it gets bad. Those people take the body apart much like you would a motor, then they pack it up in boxes and ship them off to their destinations. What was really bad is i had to cart the body to the morgue.....:(

oh crap that sucks, me and my mom were in the hospital one day to see one of our friends new babies, we were goin down to the cafeteria to eat and I hit the wrong button on the elevator, long story short it took us to the absolute bottom of the place, and the doors opened and a couple of dead guys was layin on stretchers, It scared the piss out of me, so much that I said "HOLY ****!!!!" Right there in front of my mom. I was 12-13 at the time and that dosent usually go over real well when your that age, but she kind of laughed it off, then we got to the lobby and I hauled ass out of there!!! LOL

I was eating dinner at my grandma's once and there was a car accident in front. Well in the acident a truck flipped threw the driver and 2 passengers out then landed on them. I never had nightmares about it but it was disturbing. Especially watching them lift the truck off them. I also found my grandma dead at the kitchen table the same day as 9-11 :(
