Scratch on glove compartment

Ok, the 9 yr old put a scratch on the handle of the glove compartment on the soft dimpled plastic stuff. The interior is graphite colored. What can I use to fill it in and fix it up?

I've got a similiar scratch on the panel above the glove box. The plastic seems soft and especially prone to scratching. I know of nothing you can do other than replace it.

You can take a heat gun and run it very quickly back and forth over the plastic. Keep the gun 4-6" back so as not to melt or burn the plastic, you only want to heat enough to kind of meld the plastic back together and hide the scratch.

You have to move the gun quickly but if you are careful not to burn it, you can sometimes hide flaws like this in plastic. I had to do this on a grey colored Neon I had a few years ago and once on an RSX. Slipped with a screwdriver trying to install rear speakers
