I need to replace all the ball joints on my 65. Whats the advantage of screw in ball joints? Should I use them or just use some bolt in, what brand to use, how do you install them(all the ones I found you had to weld in a piece of threaded pipe)?
you have to modify the arms to accept threaded bungs to screw the ball joints into. there is a socket just for changing the ball joints. unless you are going racing, stick with the factory style joints.
We use Moog parts. The upper # is K8036 - lower is K8035 for a '65 - '66 car. I have done the screw in ball joint deal and it's not worth it for a street car. Most of the cars at the track do use a stock type upper and lower arm. The stock parts are plenty strong. If you still want to do it I'll be happy to help. Send me a email [email protected] .
