Dont' forget that if you dyno in 4th gear instead of 5th, you'll see an extra 10 or so HP to the wheels.
Companies are hyping their numbers because they're testing in 4th gear. Other companies with "lower numbers" are PROPERLY testing in 5th.
The fact of the matter is, you're not getting an accurate reading unless you test in 5th gear which is the 1:1 ratio

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't buy a tune from a company that didn't have the balls or honesty to advertise their gains at the proper 1:1 ratio. It's dishonest, mis leading and not fair because it makes the tunes done by the guys that did things right look inferior.
I don't know of any companies advertising numbers they've gotten from an automatic transmission so that's not a valid excuse.
