SEAT BACK ???

I took the entire driver's seat out of my '91 LX 5.0 Conv. to work on it. One day a few weeks ago I got in the car and when I put my back against the seat back I ended up in the back seat!

I unzipped the zipper at the bottom of the seat back, now what? How do I remove the cover off the seat back so I can see what's broken?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a little hard to describe, but what you need to do is get the headrest out. There is a channel in the headrest which has a rectangular post in it. There is a band inside the seat that holds into the channel to keep it in. What you need to do is use a flathead screwdriver and reach up inside the seat back from the back and lift up on the band and pull the headrest out. You probably want to feel around inside there a little first so you get an idea of what to look for. It's not hard to do, just to figure out. Once you do one, you'll be able to do them in no time. Anyway, once the headrest is out, the cushion and cover will slide right off, then you can hopefully see the problem.

Adam,

Thanks. I followed your advice and the headrest came right off.

Now I'm looking for the right size star so I can take off the seat belt thingy a mijigy thats screwed into the seat back.

The front of the seat back seems to be sewn to the cushion. Do I have to cut that area to release from the cushion?

Thanks again

I missed that it is a vert seat -- hopefully I haven't mislead you in any way.

I didn't use vert seats, so I don't know for sure about the seat belt part. There really shouldn't be any differences other than the seat belt holder thing. I bet once that's off it will slide right off. May take a little wiggling, but I bet it comes right off.
