Seat Belt Mod

Wow, I have NO issues with my seatbelts in the Mustang.

I was thinking about taking off the little headrest loops, since I have a convertible and I think it would make the car look nicer. Maybe then I'll have problems...?

Yeah, the stupid seatbelt never stays in the loop, and when it's not in the loop, it's hard to reach....so annoying. Are anyone else's seatbelts fraying really bad? I just got my seatbelts replaced a year ago, and the driver side is fraying and looks like $hit. I think I may be out of the 5-year warranty now though... :nonono:

does the seatbelt stay "in-loop" in anyone elses car? mine gets difficult to pull when i stick in the loop-then pops out after about the third pull on it.
i never had trouble with it staying in the loop
i had trouble with it staying untwisted

i leave it out of the loop now, when I get out of the car I rest it on the loop so when I put it on I don't have to reach that far

Care to enlighten us on how you fixed yours and how we can do it for ourselves?

Another reason why i come on this forum. No kidding about the seat belts. :fuss: :rlaugh:

The first six months I had the car, I never used that loop. kept being a pain in the ass anyways. Then i was like okay, im gonna start using that loop and train that bad boy. Now is still pops out of that thing all the time, and I never really had a problem with it retracting until starting to use that loop. Now i gotta nurse that thing back up half the time..

Once again all you can do is  , then :damnit: , which turns to :chair: and end up being :rlaugh: <--- crazy laugh like your halfway to the nut ward

The problem is the loop thing at the top of the B piller. It wont let the belt through if it gets folded at all. What would work best would be an open ring type thing that gives the belt room to flip over and fold as it wants... but still move back and forth.

Aftermarket companies... GET ON IT!

It gets so annoying after a while that it makes me not want to wear my seatbelt. Then if you don't wear the seatbelt the car dings every 30 seconds, and that is worse than the ****ty seatbelts.

You can turn that seatbelt warning off. I did it the day after I bought me car. The instructions to do it are in your owners manual.

Yeah, it says you shouldn't use it in excess of 50mph.

I wonder if you couldn't just remove the stock unit completely. Then install three of the four points in a four point harness. It would meet DOT requirements for a three-point restraint system in the front seats, it wouldn't bind or stick like the POS stock unit, and it would look better than the stock unit.

Aside from that are there any mechanical engineers on here that can design an upgraded pretensioner system...if so it sounds like you have a pretty good market for such a product.

I like your idea, too bad I have a vert.

About the seat belt fraying, YES and it looks like crap. I'm tempted to buy the replacment from Ford. But the ***** is just gonna break again. You would think with something that important, it would work right. Wait, they were thinking!! They were thinking they would make the seatbelts a POS so we would HAVE to replace them. Bastids...

I hated the seat belt loops so I removed mine! Each loop is held on by 2 torx head screws....can't remember what size off the top of my head. It looks much better without them...plus I wasn't using them. They each weigh about 2.5 lbs each. Every little bit helps, right?

I also turned off my seat belt chime. It is in your owners manual though. You have to like turn your car to the AC position, buckle/unbuckle your seat belts 3 times, wait for the seat belt light on your dash to light up, then buckle/unbuckle 3 more times. The seat belt light will then flash a few times letting you know it is off. It is really easy and it really works. No more annoying chime every 30 seconds.

I hate those ****ing seat belt loops also!!! Everytime i pull the seatbelt it pops out of the loop then there is the feeding of the belt back into the retractor....what a pain in the ass!!!! I am going to take the loops off this weekend because i know that when the belt is not in the loop it retracts just fine.....Whats the purpose of the damn things anyway??????
