Im moving from Wisconsin to Arizona this August to attend UTI in Phoenix, it has been brought to my attention that it is the number one place for car theft, now having an 5 speed and a convertable top has me very very worried.. Any ideas on what to invest in? or anyone from that area know how bad it really is down there? Maybe i should just throw some Chevy emblems on it.. who would want it then .. anyway.. any advice or input would put my mind at ease..:SNSign:

You should be able to pick up a german shepard for around $500 or so. You'll have no problems.

oh if i only knew this would turn into a 'what kind of dog do you have' post... any serious suggestions? maybe rough estimate on cost? for something i dont have to feed and water? Im honestly concerned about my ride getting stolen, the woman i called to help get my housing set up got me good and freaked out about it.. said last year lots of people got there cars stolen right out of movie theater parking lots... and i cant just leave it.. its my only car..

What part of Phoenix will you be in?

Man, you're going to hate the Summers here. Hope you get a place with a garage or covered parking. Your top's going to suffer if not.

Hmmm, at least you won't be living in Phoenix itself. I don't know much about Glendale/Avondale except it's about an hour and a half drive from where I'm at.

Get a Club and an alarm with motion sensor/ignition kill and hope for the best. There's really no way to guarantee your car won't be stolen but, you can make them have to work really hard at it.

fwiw, my boyfriend drove a vert to work for 6 months in the bad part of Phoenix and only used a Club. Car was never messed with.

Maybe you should consider selling and buying a Hatch or Notch?

...or maybe a cheap DD and put your Vert in storage?

They do have alarms that have a remote that will buzz or beep or something if your alarm goes off.

Edit: you replied before I posted.

You could get a trunk monkey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geynA-JYDHE

Seriously, you could put a kill switch on the fuel pump relay for now, the relay is under the seat in most foxes and all you have to do is put the switch on the trigger side of the relay (not the power side), and find a nice hiding place for the switch.

I would like to get a 2-way alarm so I know its going off, when you hear someone elses alarm do you call the police?

... as in the car stays silent but the remote goes off? Brilliant sneak attack method.

Maybe if you wait about three more months you should be able to do all that with your iPod/Phone.

I think its safe to say you need a 2-way alarm..

A fuel cutoff, and all this other stuff, will not help you if they pull up with a flatbead, and tow her away
