Hey guys, what is the best adhesive to use to reattach a rearview mirror?

I'm not sure if it's the heat, but I've had two of them fall off this week. I had to take the 93 GT out today and all I see is sky where the cars behind me are supposed to be. Drives me nuts when I don't have all three mirrors. Luckily I don't drive the 91 GT much.
Thanks,
Cliff :)

yeah, i had the same thing happen to my 92 one day after it sat in the sun all day at the train station(at this point the car was 10 years old).

anywho, i just went to pepboys and picked up some generic stuff, its held up fine for 5 years now.

They make adhesive for your rear view mirror or is that what you tried?
I have not tried anything yet. Just wondering what products people have used that did or did not work. I know a lot of mirror adhesives used to work as good as bubble gum might.

I just had this happen on my '92 GT a month or so ago. I just hit the local parts store, snagged a $2 tube of rearview mirror adhesive, cleaned the old spot up with acetone and alcohol to remove the old adhesive, and glued it back on. Worked like a charm...

I have used 2 differant kinds of the mirror adhesive. I don't remember the brands, but don't get the kind that comes with the black plastic attachment buttons in the package. It didn't hold for me. The other kind has a tube of adhesive and a glass vial of activator. Just follow the instructions.

I got one of the cheesy kits from wal-mart where you glue the plastic piece to the window, let it sit for a while and then put the mirror on it. I can't remember if I used it or not, but I ended up going to the window installation place and paying them $5 to get it glued back on. Has worked for a few years and doesn't look cheesy
