Semi Metallic Brake Pads

Does anyone have Semi-Metallic Brake pads on their Front Discs?
I have a 67 and am putting together a 68 front discs brake setup for my car. I am wondering if Semi-Metallic pads are that much better than organic pads. Mustangs + sells them for about $50.00 which is double that of organic. If they are that much better the extra $ would be worth it to me. Can anyone make the argument for or against them?
I am also looking at Slotted rotors on ebay –

I know people will argue if they help or not but the price isn’t bad. Does anyone have these on their cars?

Go with the Semi-Metallics - Longer lasting, less sqeaking

I've always had less problems when I opted for the "better" or "best" pads. I've replaced several sets of pads on friends cars who had the cheap pads and correct installation of higher quailty pads always fixed the problem. But then again the previous installer may have been part of the problem also.
The Semi-Metallic will very likely last longer (depending on your driving habits). But I just don't like the idea of going with the cheap pads when I'm dealing with a safety issue like brakes.
I'm probably going to go with the EBC green pads for the front when I upgrade my brakes and install corwn vic brakes in the rear. I'd get Ceramic pads but I don't believe anyone makes them for 68 brakes.

I'm not sure if there is any real mechanical advantage of slotted rotors, but the part about hairline cracks between the holes is legit. The price is reasonable, but you may way to have them turned at your local parts store if the castings look cheap when they arrive. Are you considering those rotors for the performance or the looks?

Hairline cracks between holes is only an issue with cross drilled rotors, not slotted rotors. Also, you can not turn slotted or cross drilled rotors.

The semi-metalic pads will provide greater friction once they are warmed up. They will, however provide poorer stopping ability when they are cold. They will, also, eat into your rotors much quicker.

find someone that sells Wagner brake parts and ask for a MD34 pad, that is the metallic pad part number.

Just for looks. I have to get rotors and they are just a bit more.

Looks like Mustangs Unlimited sells 69/69 semi-metallic pads for $39.00.

where can you buy Wagner pads?

I spoke to a brake technician at a local shop here and basicly he told me that the only real advantage to going with a semi-metalic over a good regular pad is that the semi metalics last a bit longer. And like 65 fastback mentioned... the trade off is more wear on the rotors.

semi-metallics don't fade when they get hot unlike organic. organic pads really are garbage i really wouldnt recommend using them unless you just drive your car to the store and back.
