does anyone else have a problem with their belts breaking, coming off, or getting eaten up, there is massive amounts of dust under my hood that covers everything from this problem, and i have gone through about a dozen belts in 10000 miles and yes the pulleys have been checked for alignment by ford and the belt tensioner has been replaced...

who's belts are you using?, what length? maybe there to long or to short. how hard as you pushing the car? maybe a bad idler pulley? belt dust tells me something is out of alignment, where is the "belt-dust" at on the front chain cover?

i have used saleen belts, advance auto, and auto zone all of which have broke, the stock belt is a 113" belt which is what i used with the stock pulley and rr pulley, the belt dust isnt in any single location, its everywhere and there are scuffs on the timing chain cover which looks like it came from the tensioner rubbing on it. the tensioner has been replaced along with a stock s/c pulley and bob bell ford says they used a laser alignment tool or machine or w/e it is to check the alignment on the pulley...i have taken it there about a dozen times and it has come back worse then when it was taken in everytime including scuffs in the paint, insane amount of mileage put on the car and now i have 2 nice circles in my bumper from another cars license plate screws and a cracked hood from the belt breaking

mine does the same thing. i just put a new belt on every 3000 miles or so.

i have a RR pulley on my s/c to. i never had any problems with the sotck pulley but the RR one eats belts like crazy!

interesting... any way you can get a close up pic of the belt and how it wears.

if it's belt alingment you should be able to see how it wore on one side more than the other and how the ribs are damaged.
