i buddy has a 93 lx, we had a 5.0 in it and threw a rod. Now we're putting a serious motor in it, we were gonna put a crater in from a gut named Big Al. He sells supercharged crate engines that are warrenteed. Now, heres the catch. IT MUST BE CARBED. We were going to buy a blown 5.0 (roots) but we found out that we cant have anything sticking out of the hood. So some guys ran buy saying to put a 460 in but there heavy and all that bull. (whatever) I wouldnt mind one though. We were gonna have a dual 4 bbrl set up with the blower anyway. Now what i want to also add is that, the blown 5.0 would have at least 500 hp. And i made the care on a racing simulator called Live For Speed and it ran a 11:8 with 15 psi. Which is a good bit but that was at 522hp and a set of 300 slicks. Now this is for the guys with experience and some no how, what would be the best route as far as a motor to run a high to low 11, prefferably naturaly asperated, but thats considering that the blown 5.0 doesnt fit under a 4'' cowl hood, no one does that so i dont know but if any of yous do give me some input. We are willing to spend 10,000 dollars. 302ci, 351 390, 400, 460, what ever lets hear it, oh and it doesnt need to pass inspection just as long as theres nothing sticking out of the hood!!!
PLLEEEZZZ give us some help, and plz dont screw us around, it would be awsome if u guys had proof on what u have to say, Thnx EF

Hell...you can build a 500HP 347 with a turbo or cintrifugal SC that will fit under a stock flat hood and be a dammed site lighter and handle better than a 460. And Im also pretty damn sure you can get into the 11's (if thats your goal) with less than 500HP. Make it hook good and stiffen it up instead of blowing the whole wad on motor alone.

www.fordmuscle.com has a blow thru mustang 5.0 using a vortech centrifugal blower that fits under a stock hood easy, they are making lots and lots of power too, about 500hp, i believe vortech even sells the parts of a kit for making a blowthrough centrifugal blower set up, low 11's are being done with less than 500 hp also,

You may want to rethink the dual carb blower setup. Procharger makes a kit for single carb set up I hear. Vortech has the parts to make it happen too.

Single carb will probably be easier to tuen too

well i cant have anything sticking out of the hood cuz it makes it a cop magnet and the kid has 4 poitns on his license and doesnt need any additional trouble, no i didnt check out that link yet but, what kind of time can we make with an all motor (natural asperation) small block? We basically need to beat vipers and STI's. We have slick for it! And where would you guys think a good place to buy a crate motor for that blow through sc that has good piston, head, bottom end etc?

Can I ask why you want to ditch the EFI and go blown with a carb? The EFI with a blower will make as much or more power when tuned right.

Right outof the box a Procharger on the 93 with a good shortblock and the restictive stock intake can make over 500 hp with like 14 or 15 psi. And Procharger is intercooled.

Procharger

why ditch the efi? We didnt because we got the car with a half a$$ 5.0 swap in it, but seriously, look at my name, I LOVE CARBS haha. And what do u mean a procharger with a Good shortblock? But we also might pick up another 5.0 notch with a efi 302 for 7500$ but its nice as hell. But what do u think we could run with an all motor 5.0, no forced induction. STI's and Vipers actually isnt a far range, viper and sti's both run about a 12.6 Which is very impressive for the price of the viper. But handling is a different story all together.

what i really want to know is what we could run with a naturally aspertated enigne, 5.0

Forgive me if this comes across wrong, but do you have any idea what your doing?

A N/A 5.0 could run into the 10's if setup right, but it's streetability would suffer.

And I don't believe a STI can 12.9's stock.

Realisticaly you can make a 5.0 that's N/A run 12.50's pretty easily and have it run on pump gas. Put the combo has to be well put together. You can get a 5.0 to make 400-425 crankshaft hp with a Victor Jr, AFR 185 heads and the big Comp Cams camshaft, pertty easily. AFR did exactly this...see here, 3rd dyno down fromteh top... 455 hp.

A stripped out Mustang weighing in at about 3000 lbs could run 11.50's with that kind of power.... if properly tuned and setup to run. Could run easy 12's.
